QB Class Starting to Look Like S&@*

Anyone else disappointed with the way this QB class is starting to pan out after looking very promising?

Newton has gone Hollywood
Gabbert is scared to throw at the combine
Locker went to hell as a Senior
Mallett being the 2nd coming of Ryan Leaf

Ponder is starting to look like the prize QB in this draft to me at this point.

I don't trust black QB's...period.

Track record is just terrible...I don't want their entourages, I don't want their ghetto leach families...

it's unfortunate, but it's true

I'd tell Newton he can be the #1 pick but he's going to have clauses in his contract to protect the franchise.

Not ok with it? Then Gabbert it is.

Wow, pretty sure your math IS wrong. Not one single stat you have listed of Newton's is double that of Kaepernick's.

Cam Newton will be a first round pick. I personally would not spend more than a late second on him. He is a physical specemin, but right now, he is a terrible QB. He has potential, but I honestly don't think he'll translate. Wouldn't take Locker til late 2nd either.

I like how you idiots assume I'm comparing Kaepernick's numbers to Newton's when I was comparing each players Pass/Run stats with themselves.

Kaepernicks stats are a mirror ****ing image.

Newton doubled his production as a passer and was way more productive as a passer than Kaepernick.

It's likely neither one will be very productive at the NFL level. But if I had to choose which one is going to be a franchise QB I'd pick Newton.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Kaepernick transition to a WRqb. He's dangerous in the open field and has very good speed. He could also throw reverse/flea flicker bombs down field.

Pay to play isn't the half of Newton's flaws. Stealing laptops, cheating on tests and reportedly stealing things from teammates lockers.(last one I hadn't read about, but a combine analyst listed it on top of the laptop allegations) He's a lazy thief.

People really downplay how good of a collegiate passer Newton was.

This past year, against 7 top 25 teams (3 top 10) he had a 64.6 completion % and 14TDs to 2 Ints. Really good numbers against the toughest schedule (IMO).

You're the guy that proclaimed that Newton would fall to the second round, not me.

The guy is 6'5, 248 and lean. He's powerful and while he's certainly a project (as is every other QB available in this draft), there are far too many teams that would be willing to risk a first round pick, especially if he were to fall out of the Top Ten, on a guy like him.

He'd have to have had sex with his sister to drop out of the first round.

I'd pass on both QB's and draft other positions to build the talent around Luck. They've got a damn good chance at being the worst team in the league, again.

It's not a gamble though. Throw away the season in the first of many rebuilding years under a new FO to grab the best franchise prospect out of the 2 years.

It's not like the NBA where a colored ping pong ball decides.

It is a gamble. You cannot predict that there won't be a team with a worse record. That's just silly.

You can't get much worse than 0-16 if you wanted to. The only way they wouldn't be #1 in that situation is if another team went 0-16. I'd like my chances better with their schedule and their team passing on Gabbert/Newton at #1 this year to make a run at Luck next year. Give me Fairley this year.

Now if another team wants Fairley and they can trade out of that first and get Gabbert/Newton later, then I'd jump that. But at #1? Nope.

We have a guy on this board that would take Stanzi with a 2nd, but wouldn't touch Newton with anything higher than a "late" second? Am I reading that he'd take Stanzi over Cam Newton?

The homervision is strong in this one.

You're telling me that an NFL team would make a conscious decision to throw 16 games. That's ridiculous.
