Anybody here ever actually run the 40?
Curious to see if we have any other athletes out here.

I don't have a stopwatch. Maybe I should see if one of my friends does and get some jackass to time me.

Defeated? When was this a battle? I just know when bullshit is bullshit...just like our south paw friend who threw 90 but wasn't drafted...because he wanted to finish his degree...9/10 people in this thread are stretching the truth...

Our quarterback was a LHer that threw in the high 80's with regularity. He didn't get drafted out of HS.

He went to Wichita State and pitched there until he graduated. He got drafted in the 3rd round by the Red Sox and had some arm trouble. I think he's still bouncing around the BoSox organization in AA somewhere as a reliever. He's probably 28 or 29 at this point, so I don't imagine he's going to ever 'make it'. (Tough break, he was a damn nice guy. Valedictorian, Wendy's HS Heisman finalist, Varsity basketball captain; the works. He had every reason to be an asshole but was as good a guy as you'd ever meet).

The point being that you're just wrong. There's no shortage of lefties that can chuck the ball that don't get drafted out of HS. He had to pay his dues in college before he got a look and when he did he was even taken quite high (so it's not as though the talent wasn't there). Sometimes you just don't draw the right eyes your way.

EDIT: Looks like he threw a handful of innings at AAA last season, so it appears he's still kicking around out there.

And if he went to wichita state to play baseball he was clearly a highly touted recruit (especially if he went 3rd round)...wichita state is a powerhouse...any1 who goes there could go straight to the minors...but the success rate of baseball players is very slim so many choose college over 50k signing bonuses

No...I have common sense and know how highly coveted hard throwing lefties are...if you're throwing 85 in high school...a qualified pitching coach can adjust your mechanics and add 3-5 (or more) mph to your fastball right away (unless you magically have perfect mechanics at age 17) which is rare

I've said it before, I'll say it again - the guy lacks any self-awareness whatsoever. There are people in this world that have done some very badass things and are/were amazing athletes even in their younger days. My old man's a white guy and he still has a few track records back in Troy, MO; but Hootie says white guys can't run.

We're all fat lazy assholes that are jealous of him and his job as a bartender. Not to mention his myriad of life experiences as a drunken frat boi. Didn't you know that?

I'm telling you - This kid was a very high profile athlete in Kansas City. He absolutely threw in the 80s (still does even after his arm injury) and he did not get drafted until after he spent time at Wichita State. I was off by one on his round (4th rounder), but you're just dead ass wrong.

It's not like Wichita State is some bumb**** baseball school. They're one of the best in the nation - he was obviously on the radar. But he still didn't get drafted out of HS. I'm not going to post his info on here, but it's not exactly tough to find a AAA reliever for the Bosox who threw left and is in his late 20s.
