Anybody here ever actually run the 40?
Curious to see if we have any other athletes out here.

I don't have a stopwatch. Maybe I should see if one of my friends does and get some jackass to time me.

What's your 40 time?

So, if two guys running side by side each run a 4.6 and one goes on to play major college ball and the other never plays again, does that mean the coach lied about the timing?

It doesn't matter if it were hand timed or laser timed. If you consistently ran the same exact time, I'd pretty much say that was your time.

Laser timing didn't exist in 1982, 1983 or 1984, at least as far as high school was concerned. And considering that a scores of guys from MY HIGH SCHOOL went on to have success at varying levels of college and NFL football, I'd say those times were pretty ****ING ACCURATE.

where is your proof that they started the time when you moved and stopped it when you crossed the line?

No, jackass, I want to use their success at the college level as proof that the coaches didn't lie about 40 times, nor were they inaccurate.

Regardless, today's Division I bound high school football players have been scouted since they were in the seventh grade. These guys attend football camps all over the nation and everyone is aware of their accurate 40 times.

This is just another stupid ****ing discussion by a bunch of Know-It-All asswipes that don't know a ****ing thing about football or the process.

Well I ran a 4.7 hand timed a handful of times and the coaches had no reason to lie to or for me. I also was nowhere near to the fastest guy in my school. One of the fastest guys at school only played sports his sophmore year. He got in some trouble and was kicked out. He destroyed me the only time we lined up. I have no idea what he ran the 40 in, but I know it 6 to 7 yards faster than me. Some of the strongest and fastest never play sports at any level and I know for a fact 4.5 to 4.7 is not uncommon~

I also want to point out that people are faster today than they were in 1970s-1980s, due to our training and nutrition as athletes. It's very unlikely that a lot of you were running 4.50-4.60.

I remember running it but I honestly couldn't tell you what I scored but I'm certain it was nothing besides average. I assure you I'm awesome none the less however.
