This is so unreal. We were dead. No hope. A season over. Somehow, someway we find some team chemistry and squeak into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

Only to find us facing one of the best pitching staffs assembled in years with home field advantage. We somehow, someway find a way to beat the best pitcher in baseball on the road in an elimination game.

We have to go on the road and beat the team with the best home record in baseball. A team who mortgaged their future to make this run .We somehow, someway find a way to beat them on the road and make our 18th World series trip.

We take game 1, we give away game 2 and home field advantage. Albert goes off for probably the best performance in World Series history and we take game 3 easily. Games 4 & 5 our bats fall asleep, Phone gate happens and its not looking too good.

Game 6, one of the best baseball games of all time and it takes place in a season ending go home game. Cardinals are down 2 runs in their final chance on the season, twice. They are down to their final strike of the season, twice. They give up a 2 run homer in extra innings. In the bottom of the inning their final 3 batters are a combined 3-26 in the Playoffs and a pitcher because the bench is empty. Somehow, someway they get some runners on and the comeback player of the year drives in the tying run. Mr. Freese hits the walk off home run. We will see you tommorrow night.

Game 7, With our bulldog on the mound pitching on 3 days rest he is able to give us 6 good innings and get us to within 9 outs of our 11 World series title. Texas meltsdown, probably left over from last nights game and its over.

The underdog, come back team who had no business even being in the playoffs wins a World championship. They make movies about events like this in life. Events that you remember even if your not a fan of the sport or team for the rest of your life.

When it is your team.......Priceless

Something tells me if the Cards are anywhere near the top of the Central come the trade deadline, they'll trade for a LOOGY.

I'd take Yost over LaRussa as well.

Yost is a damn fine manager and if you don't remember the job he did against us while developing a Brewers squad that really came from nowhere on his watch, then you just weren't paying attention.

I'll take LaRussa's resume over Yosts, but for this season and the next 10, I'd rather have Ned Yost.

What great manager gets fired 2 weeks before the end of the season because his team was fading and almost missed out on the playoffs?

There are only a few managers in the game right now I'd take over Tony. They are Scioscia, Maddon, Quade(dude seems like he's gonna be a good manager) and Tracy.

Yost seems a lot like Hurdle to me. He'll be good at developing players, but may not last a long time with a team.

Now, if the Cards had a lot of young prospects, I'd want Yost over Tony.

Yost had his team further along that season than they should've been. He got fired because ownership was stupid. He had them overachieving for the better part of the season then by the time Sept rolled around they started playing to their real ability.

Yost was a victim of his own success that season.

But unlike you, there are probably only 5 managers in baseball I'd less like to have on this squad than LaRussa. There's no excuse for the Cardinals not making the playoffs last season with the squad they had and his continued insistence on things like Schumaker at 2b and Nick Punto on the roster has simply worn out his welcome. He was once great, that time has passed.

Should the Cards have made the playoffs last year? Yes, no one's arguing that. Mozeilak should get more of the blame for a few reasons. When Freese went down, Lopez got playing time at 3B and sucked at it. The Cards didn't have any insurance(even though Felipe was supposed to be a UT guy, but I think he would have done better if he split time with Skip at 2B) at 3B. He traded for Pedro Feliz. The Cards were also unprepared for Penny going down, that falls on Mozeliak for not having any 6th starter(Waltsworth doesn't count).

Another lazy stab. I'm sure it's mere coincidence that 3 of the 4 players I've named as players that don't play fundamentally sound baseball have all made plays that aren't fundamentally sound that have hurt us badly this game.

I repeat - this team does not play the game the right way and Albert walking to 1b is as glaring example as we see.
