Boy, 4, Shoots Self With Gun At Liquor Store

Police Say 4-Year-Old Found Loaded Gun Behind Counter

A 4-year-old Indiana boy is dead after police say he found a loaded gun behind the counter of a liquor store and accidentally shot himself.

Ash Wimbley, of Cedar Lake, Ind., was found at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday inside Tubby's Wine and Spirits in Beecher, Ill.

He was rushed to a hospital, but was pronounced dead there later that afternoon, The Associated Press reported.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and to anyone else who has been affected by this tragic incident,” Beecher police said in a statement, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Investigators were still trying to determine who the gun belonged to, and how the boy got a hold of it.

This sounds terrible, but I hope you're right. But the more likely scenario is that it was some customers' kid.

You're probably right. Since it was 10:15 in the morning, I thought (hoped) the kid belonged to the owners.

Even at the age of 4 I don't think I could manage to shoot myself. Pretty sure I never even aimed a Nerf gun at myself.
