Tony Moeaki

I've been watching some tape of the 2010 season. I spent part of the evening just watching Moeaki's own game, what he does each play. How he blocks, what routes he runs (when he's on camera -- I don't have GoChiefs' ****ing amazing coach view), and his blocking assignments.

I'm dead serious when I say this people, but other than lacking top speed explosiveness that you really only see in more one-dimensional athletic TEs, there are zero holes in this guy's game.

Seriously. We have perennial Pro Bowler talent here.

He simply has glue for hands. They are easily the best hands on this team -- with zero no-brainer drops that Bowe is occasionally guilty of. His routes could probably use a little refinement, but he finds good spots in zone coverage and can get that hint of leverage on a defender that Tony G used to be able to get to avail himself for a quick dart.

As good as his hands are, it's his run blocking that truly makes him special. Vernon Davis may be the only tight end in the league that's capable of blocking this good while still being a damn good receiver, and Davis comes with consistency and maturity issues that Moaeki simply doesn't have.

He handles everything from 4-3 DEs and up, and he seemingly gets his way every single time as if he's the team's ****ing blocking tight end.

It's getting to the point where I'm wondering why the Chiefs would EVER take him out of the field.

It's not terribly hard to find a veteran comparison to Moeaki. We've already seen it here in Kansas City for a decade. Tony Moeaki can make every catch Tony Gonzalez was seemingly capable of. He's just as athletic. He might become the better blocker, if he's not already. And he was a team captain at Iowa -- there's simply no reason he can't become the vocal leader Gonzalez was here in Kansas City.

I'm loving watching this kid play. He does his job as well as anybody on the field, he is consistent, and best of all, he's just a pleasure to watch.

He played at Iowa. We don't have the best athletes at every position so we have to execute better than the other guy to have a chance to win.

Search my name and Moeaki or Tony.

Yep, you were.

I thought he would have been drafted around 10-15 and that he would be a solid left tackle, but was a bit overhyped.

Honestly though, I wasn't as informed about Iowa players back then as I am now.

I know a few people within the program and one really prominent one that answers a lot of my questions. Lots of stuff I can't share, but I have also shared plenty of stuff as well...the stuff that's ok'd.

You should really find it in your heart to share via PM.
