Is the history really that deep? Their history is that they cut Joey Porter and Jason Gildon when they were at the end of their careers. The Cards signed Clark Haggans at a pretty old age, and he's doing as well as you'd expect of a 33 year old OLB.

Studebaker should not stand in the way of bringing a stud in at any position.
Last year, we were obsessed with bringing in playmakers. Now all of a sudden, the argument has shifted to "make sure we fill all our holes?"

Houston may have potential, but given the importance of the LOLB position, why would we gamble on a second rounder? Worst case scenario, Houston turns out to be terrific and you have 3 excellent pass rushers--it's a great problem to have. I don't think there's a single fan outside of Kansas City that could justify passing on a 10+ sack guy like Woodley because of an unproven second round pick.

Damn, I didnt think he would get anywhere near that amount.
He would be a good signing for half that.

Clark Haggans left 5 years ago when he was 29 and he's been a basic ghost since. Chad Brown left, never ever duplicated the play he displayed in Pittsburgh.

It's a great system for OLB's and I would never advocate trading for a player who might just be a really great system guy.

He's easily getting that.

OJ Atogwae got 7 million a year from Washington and he's coming off a horrible year.

Vrabel disagrees, and Brown was as good in Seattle as he was in Pittsburgh.

Let me know when Vrabel was a star for the Steelers. He had 27 total tackles in 4 years.

He was also more of an ILB/special teams player for them.

No, he wasn't. You obviously don't remember a lick of how unreal Chad Brown was as a Steeler. He was never even close to that level. He was good in Seattle, but he was never great.

I think there could be some truth to the Steelers' system helping out players. No doubt Woodley benefits, given that he plays opposite Harrison. But the sample size is just too small. Haggans' production isn't that much different in Arizona than it was in Pittsburgh--it's not like Haggans was all-world when he was in Pittsburgh either. Porter was past his prime. And Chad Brown was 15 years ago, and much of that poor transition might be due to the Seahawks stupidly trying to transition him from 3-4 OLB to 4-3 OLB. We all know that's not even close to the same position, a mistake few teams probably make these days.

For instance, Brown in 1996 with Pittsburgh racked up 110 tackles, 13 sacks, with 2 picks. That's DPOY material right there.

All I'm saying is the examples of players never duplicating the success they had in Pittsburgh far outweighs the amount of success former Steeler outside backers have had elsewhere.

Brown had one big sack year in his career. He was an All Pro twice, once on each team. Most of his big tackle years were in Seattle.
