Houston is missing a HUGE opportunity right now with Hali holding out from signing his franchise deal.
Houston would have assuredly been getting all of the first team snaps at ROLB. Question....if Houston misses the whole year by not signing his deal, do we get a 3rd comp pick next year for it? |

Right. That was my point. My statment was where the upgrades/improvements where needed after our last game. Starting a rookie with little to no experience still leads to a ? at that position and what their play will be. It might all work out. I hope it does. I am a diehard Chiefs fan since I was a kid. Not getting any panties in a bunch just trying to be realistic is all. Dorsey was a top 5 draft pick and one of the more hyped players and he took a couple seasons before he could contribute. Most rookies are like that. It takes a couple seasons before they get it. None of these young guys have had the benefit and time of a good offseason learning the playbook and such. I also had high hopes for Houston even as a rookie, but not very realistic since he hasn't even signed yet. So, as much as I would like to hope we are playoff bound, there are A LOT of question marks I had hoped would be answered by now. I am excited to see all the young guys play too, but I have never been happy watching the team struggle to win only a few games. That just sucks. Especially when you have high expectations. |

but we have no one behind Jackson...we let go of a player better and cheaper than Jackson and replaced him a 3rd round pick... we have no proven 1st and 2nd down DE to spell Dorsey (who played too many snaps last year) or Jackson (who has proven nothing)....doesn't make any sense to me....we have piles of $$$$ though, thank jesus Bailey better be a bad ass right out of the gate

OK, someone help me out with the Houston thing: what is the reason why he hasn't signed? While the cap floor isn't in effect this year, the rookie salary pool is, correct? Thus, my understanding is that teams have very limited wiggle room.
So what can he possibly be hoping to negotiate? By league rules, he has virtually zero leverage, correct? Could there be something else in play? Another failed drug test, perhaps? Something else? |

pay attention. ... Seriously though, there has to be something. Secretary: Mr Pioli, there is a Mr Houston here to see you. Pioli: Good, let him in. Houston: Nice to meet you sir, I look forward to helping this team to the next level. Pioli: (houston gets a little closer to Pioli to shake hands) Justin, whats that smell? Houston: I dont know what you mean. Pioli: We both know what I mean, you arent allowed on premises until you get this resolved. Im very disapointed in you right now, I thought we talked about this in our interview. Houston: Im sorry, sir. I made a mistake and it wont happen again. Pioli: Youre damn right it wont, Im not gonna let you near my team until you resolve this. I want you to check into THIS rehab center (hands Houston a card for a under the radar center that will not let info get into the media) and after that, you wil have another chance to be an NFL football player. Houston: thank you sir, This wont happen again. Pioli: get out of my office. ... I wonder if something like that happened... |

If you ever watched him play, there is no doubt he has all the talent in the world and I would be shocked if one day he wasn't a huge contributer. I hoped he would dismiss his own actions before the draft as a mistake and get his butt into camp be working with Romeo and Hali so he could be a factor this year for us. We really need him to be this year. Many have speculated he might be waiting to get clean, but it rerally doesn't take THAT long especially if you work out and sweat a lot. |

Barring multiple major players going on IR (Cassel, Berry, Charles, Flowers, Dorsey, Hali, Bowe, etc)....this seasons ultimate success or failure falls on the right arm and brain of Matt Cassel. If we stay relatively healthy and Cassel takes another major step in his individual development, we will go deep in the playoffs. Maybe even make the superbowl if we get a few lucky breaks (that happen to EVERY superbowl participant in history.) |

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said the fan base's "We Want Orton" chant during Monday's scrimmage "really makes me sick." http://t.co/Klmo9AN
Funny, I was speaking with a Dolphin fan the other day, and he said the teams decision to not go out and get a QB really made him sick too. I told him the idea of wanting a broncos QB is what should make him sick. Hell, I am suprised the Phins don't try to trade for Tebow with so many Tebow fans in florida. |

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi believes Tim Tebow is "ultimately" not in the Broncos' plans.
Lombardi reported at least twice this past offseason that Tebow lacks support in the front office. Lombardi concedes that many in Denver denied his report. The Broncos were shopping Kyle Orton heavily just one week ago, which suggests a belief in Tebow. If last year's first rounder is no longer in the teams' plans, then the front office has changed its mind on the direction of the franchise after one week of no-pads practice. |

I know this isnt gonna go over well, but I would give them a third rounder for Tebow.
At that price, he wouldnt have to be a quarterback. It would have to come with the caveat that he had to know he wasnt in the competition for the starting QB job and likely never would be. It would be worth that much just to have him in certain packages and in the lockerroom. |
