The chairman of the Texas House Committee on Higher Education, state Rep. Dan Branch, says "there is no immediate need to evaluate the merits of an athletic conference reconfiguration involving Texas A&M" and other Texas schools.

No it is 4 term Texas House Representative member Dan Branch's opinion that Texas A&M isn't going anywhere.

I've stated before that it is my opinion that the actions of Texas A&M wouldn't affect the progression on the "Big 12".

That being the case I really haven't investigated the issue enough to claim one way or another Texas A&M's intentions.

Why would they do that?

With Nebraska gone only Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are teams with BCS wins in their trophy case.

I can't see the conference doing anything remotely close to encouraging Kansas to drop football.

Especially being that they are 5-1 in bowl games since joining the conference.
