This is so unreal. We were dead. No hope. A season over. Somehow, someway we find some team chemistry and squeak into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

Only to find us facing one of the best pitching staffs assembled in years with home field advantage. We somehow, someway find a way to beat the best pitcher in baseball on the road in an elimination game.

We have to go on the road and beat the team with the best home record in baseball. A team who mortgaged their future to make this run .We somehow, someway find a way to beat them on the road and make our 18th World series trip.

We take game 1, we give away game 2 and home field advantage. Albert goes off for probably the best performance in World Series history and we take game 3 easily. Games 4 & 5 our bats fall asleep, Phone gate happens and its not looking too good.

Game 6, one of the best baseball games of all time and it takes place in a season ending go home game. Cardinals are down 2 runs in their final chance on the season, twice. They are down to their final strike of the season, twice. They give up a 2 run homer in extra innings. In the bottom of the inning their final 3 batters are a combined 3-26 in the Playoffs and a pitcher because the bench is empty. Somehow, someway they get some runners on and the comeback player of the year drives in the tying run. Mr. Freese hits the walk off home run. We will see you tommorrow night.

Game 7, With our bulldog on the mound pitching on 3 days rest he is able to give us 6 good innings and get us to within 9 outs of our 11 World series title. Texas meltsdown, probably left over from last nights game and its over.

The underdog, come back team who had no business even being in the playoffs wins a World championship. They make movies about events like this in life. Events that you remember even if your not a fan of the sport or team for the rest of your life.

I'm twenty years older and they have only two titles in that time both in the 60s. Before that they won 1 in the 20's the year my dad was born, 2 more in the 30's, 3 in the 40s.

Clearly the right team at the right time. The Braves would never have traded punches w/ STL like Texas did. Pretty sure Hudson would have just shit right there, but yeah, awesome win the other night. The right two teams represented this year's World Series. ... big ups.

I think chasing your team down is what may have made us tough. We had so many "must-wins" that the team got use to fighting through adversity.

Like most years, this year it was the "hot" team that won the WS. I think we are seeing a template to win. The teams that have to fight to get into the playoffs and make it are ready to trade punches and win it all more than another team that had a big lead and coasted to the finish line.

yep but, with all of that said, it's a real-time confirmation when you see these guys plate 6-12 runs nightly - over the last few weeks. That's doing it when it matters. The Chiefs and The Braves alike, haven't enough heart to get that accomplished, you all should be very proud, seems the World Series just keeps getting better and better every year, year after year.

The hot team normally makes a deep run, but I don't know that the hot team wins "most" years. (See 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005)

Far too many individuals want to discredit the Cardinals' accomplishments because of their jealousy. The fact of the matter is that the team won enough games to get into the playoffs, beat the two best teams in their league w/o HFA w/o their best pitcher, and after suffering multiple devastating injuries. Then they beat the best team in the AL.

It's not like we haven't been on the other side. The 2004-5 Cardinals won 205 games in the regular season and won 0 WS games. They also didn't have HFA to Boston in '04 despite the Red Sox being a WC team.

I wore my Gibson Cardinals jersey around St, Pete today. Got a lot of positive feedback from fans with no dog in the fight or even baseball fans...... Man thats a tough team, best baseball game I've ever seen, fantastic World series, I might watch more baseball next year etc etc.

That's funny, I wore my Pujols jersey around the Chicago suburbs today, and I just got a bunch of dirty looks.

there are still a lot of Cardinal fans down here. The Cardinals had spring training in St. Pete for like 40-50 years.

We were the best team in MLB in 2004. Almost a univeral opinion. To get squnked like we did was a big punch to the gut that still bears a mark on my basball soul. Those posters telling us we can;t complain ever again because we went to 3 World Series inb 7 years and won 2 dont really comprend how much losses like 85/87/04 drug us down as fans.

Went to an Italian resteraunt in downtown St. Pete tonight. kind of upscale and about a mile from the Rays stadium. A lot of the visiting baseball teams come there to eat because the word is out on how good the place is. Anyway..............

Seems Nolan Ryan, Wash and Young come in every time they are in town. All the waiters have pictures with them. They wern't too pleased with me and my Cardianls jersey.

So, if I die from food poisioning tonight......call the cops on em.
