One I like that few may have heard of is a song by Helix called Deep Cuts the Knife. I would also put out there that the heaviest love song of all is Black Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe, and it's also considered by many to be the first thrash song. The change up at the end is not thrash-ish (?) but it firmly establishes the entire tune as a love song.
