I don't subscribe to your destination rule. For instance, I've never specially traveled anywhere in Nebraska (seriously, who has?), but I drove the length of that vile barren sonofabitch from the southeastern tip to the northwestern tip, and it was horrible and took hours, and by God I'm counting it.

If you haven't visited Car Henge in Shadron, you really haven't been to Nebraska.

Hey, I don't make the rules around here.

Well, other than the one you disagree with.

I don't count airport stops (hence no Alabama, even though I've been to the airport in Huntsville), nor would I count a state where you drove through just a tiny part of it and never got out of the car (like the part of I-15 that goes through the northwestern tip of Arizona).

But big ass states like Nebraska or Pennsylvania that take many hours to cross, or piddling states that I've driven through many times, like Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey - sorry, I'm counting them. Been there, done that, stopped for gas, had meals, was generally bored out of my mind for long stretches.

I understand the point. I wonder if perhaps an amendment to the rule is that you spend more than eight consecutive hours in the state, or that you have more than one consecutive meal.

But then again, did you really visit the state, or did you just accidentally end up there?

If you've driven the length of Nebraska or Kansas, you've been there.

Same thing with Pennsylvania, which (other than two cities) is basically Nebraska with trees.

Yesterday I was in a state of euphoria for a while, followed by a state of contentment. When I awoke from a dream about peeing my pants and was unsure if I actually had for a minute last night, I was temporarily in a state of confusion. Once I figured out I hadn't and that I just needed to go really bad my state turned to relief. Then once I went potty the state of relief became so over-whelming that a state of joyus gratitude toward the muscles surrounding my bladder came over me. Then I went back to bed and fell into a deep state of slumber. Right now I'm in a state of calm acceptance that I have more work to do before going home. Later I'd like to be in a state of drunkeness.

I still don't understand this. Have you ever taken I-90 across South Dakota? What about I-70 across Kansas and eastern Colorado? Or I-76 to Denver? Those are all infinitely more vile and barren than I-80 through Nebraska. Hell I-80 through Iowa is nothing but cornfield after cornfield.

I think you just hate Nebraska.

Yes, I've taken all of them. And yes, they all suck, especially I-70 across Kansas, which outsucks them all.

But extreme southeastern Nebraska to extreme northwestern Nebraska - seriously, that's up there.

Well as far as distance goes, we do have them all beat because of our panhandle.

But we do have this!

Where else are you going to see one of these?
