Was winning this game worth completely blowing any shot at a QB?

We are officially out of the running for any of the quarterbacks this year, barring an unforseen trade that is highly unlikely.

Enjoyable win, but as 'Hamas' would say, "pyrrhic."

All I know is that this was the least frustrating game I have watched since Trent Green was here. Even when we were winning last year Cassel was still frustrating to watch.

Okay.... Well today, in their first game with a limited play book (because he's only been in the system 2 weeks) they beat the best team in football without Charles, Berry or Moeaki. How is that mediocrity?

IMO a game like today shows just how much we need to get up in the draft and get a franchise guy. This team, when healthy, is about 3 spots away from being a legit contender.

RT,NT, QB.

I wouldn't be pissed at all if we went 2009 Jets and traded up to get say Barkley.

Totally agreed. Cassel somehow makes screen passes look like the hardest thing to execute in the world.

If Orton plays out the rest of the season like he did today, he deserves the starting job hands down with no concern for "competition". I wasn't an Orton supporter but after not having a real quarterback in this offense since Trent Green, the potential of this team looks completely different with him in there. I believe a win like this could absolutely bond players with coach, with quarterback. If he continues like he did today, we should not draft a QB first round, he shouldn't have to look over his shoulder. The job should be completely his. If a highly ranked qb falls to a lower round, that's different.

Yeah I agree. This team isn't that hurting that we need tons of draft picks. But we'll never do it. Also a stud RT would be hard to pass on in the first round.

Although I would take Orton over Cassel and Palko in a heartbeat, lets not forget we only scored 19 points against the worst defense in football. We had 4 FGs while having the ball in the red zone multiple times and we failed on a fourth and inches in the red zone. While Orton would outplay Cassel and Palko, he does not deserve any credit for our win. This is all on our defense. It is sad that our QB situation is so bad that some are looking to Orton as the solution on offense.

Drafting a quarterback or any first rounder is a crap shoot. I'm always for the proven player. Orton has a better receiving Corp in KC than he has ever had and has thrown for a lot of yards and played well. He has performed beyond expectation everywhere he's gone with less than most quarterbacks. Denver? CHICAGO?! Add Moeaki and Charles. I've had to re-think this. The same goes for Crennel.

We weren't going to get Griffin anyway. Luck to Indy is done. And I don't ever want another ****ing USC quarterback named Matt, regardless of how good he looks.

So **** yes, knocking off the undefeated Super Bowl champions ****ING ROCKS.

How does a guy who continued to lead scoring drives not deserve any credit?...

Obvious stupid is obvious.

another thing to keep in mind is if the plan was truly "groom" Stanzi as the QBOTF then retaining Orton would be plausible.

Absolute BS. He moved the ball masterfully. The plays inside the 5 were called horribly. Our Defense played amazing. But apart from getting stuffed like 10 times in the RUN, we should have won that game by 20.

It's not Orton's fault we can't pound the ball in from inside the five yard line.

And also (and I hate to keep harping on this because we won) but the obviously bent officiating resulted in at least a nine point swing. This game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated.

Chicago preferred Cutler over Orton and Denver preferred Tebow over Orton. Orton is far from being a long term answer at QB. He is not as bad as who we have on our roster, but he is by no means great either. He is proven, but to a point. I would rather roll the dice on an unknown QB then stick with an ok QB on team #3.

We did get away with a fumble out of the endzone, though.
