Muir is the latest to endorse Crennel

Offensive coordinator Bill Muir took time in his usual weekly news conference to do a couple things. First, he became the latest to endorse Romeo Crennel as the permanent head coach. He also took a swipe at former coach Todd Haley. Without mentioning Haley by name, Muir suggested the offense last week operated more efficiently with Crennel as his boss. The Chiefs appeared to relay the play-call to quarterback Kyle Orton in a manner that was consistently more timely than when Haley was the head coach. ''If you thought it appeared that,'' Muir said, ''then it probably was. ''Romeo delegates authority and expects the people who are given authority to do their job. He’s hands-on and he knows what he wants. As long as he’s getting it, he’s pretty calm. If he’s not getting it, then the calmness disappears in a hurry.'' Muir also suggested Crennel was the best hire for the Chiefs as their permanent head coach. ''Romeo is an excellent choice at this particular time,'' Muir said. ''He’s good for this football team. The Kansas City Chiefs would do well to hire Romeo Crennel. ''He’s the man for the job here. The defense has started to turn the corner. I think it would be a shame to change that. Romeo’s demeanor as a head football coach relates very well to the players. He has a sternness about him without being a dictatorial type of man. He will do a good job.''

Muir bragging about the "efficiency" of the play calling? What a clown.

If Muir returns in any capacity with the Chiefs next season that will be an epic fail.

It seems weird to hear all this from coaches and players considering how close-lipped everyone has been for the last 3 seasons. Either Pioli has lost control or he's well aware and even encouraging people to say this stuff because he knows he's going to hire Romeo.

I dunno. But the fear of spouting this stuff seems to be gone. That in and of itself signals some serious changes in the organization.

Is the entire Muir interview posted anywhere?

Pretty interesting that everyone has been blaming Muir all year for communication problems when it might not be him.

Muir also appears to have more sense than Haley when it comes to QBs:

“I think that he has some instincts I guess that’s the right word,” Muir said. “But he seems to have the ability to make quick decisions and the ball comes out of this hand quickly. I think that was pretty evident last week.”

“The offensive line always appreciates somebody who throws the ball quickly,” Muir said.

It's funny because I've been pretty vocal in fighting the "it's all Haley's fault" crowd but I don't know how you could look at the communication issues and blame them on MUIR.

Exactly. When was the last time ANY coach could win in Cleveland? I wouldnt use CLE against Romeo. No one can seem to win there.

It is interesting how there was no problems getting the call into the offense this past week. Maybe Muir wasnt he issue but him and Haley going back and forth about the next play was?
