Any plans to drop GoDaddy?

You know with that whole SOPA thing going on? GoDaddy is a huge supporter of SOPA and I'm pretty sure that ChiefsPlanet should be against it.

If GoDaddy were still supporting SOPA, I'd agree. However, since GoDaddy swiftly reversed their position and bowed to the will of the angry internet mob, there's no longer a need or a point to a boycott, unless you wanna be spiteful and punish them for ever supporting SOPA at all.

If this SOPA thing ends up going through would using a VPN help to get around all the censoring and stuff. Or would a 2nd "underground" internet be the only way to do the same stuff?

It would allow you to get around any blocks of the internet because it essentially uses other computer in other countries as proxies for your connection. It is slow... but better than nothing.

A VPN just connects you to another network. If that network is being blocked then it does you no good. Proxies are similar and wouldn't do the trick.

A secondary internet would be the only way to truly get around it, and I've seen basic information already about private companies launching their own satellites to basically start a completely separate internet network that would not be part of the same internet as we know it today.

Here's a quick video that gives you a better idea of what all this is: http://front.moveon.org/why-the-inte...nger-right-now

The fact that they suck should be enough of a reason.

Yeah, I'm not really sure I understand the logic behind all of them going dark for a day. Is it supposed to prove a point that if these sites had to go away (which they more than likely would if SOPA / PIP passes) we all wouldn't be very happy?

Google and Facebook aren't going dark but apparently they're going to put banners all over the place for the day discouraging the whole thing.

I don't understand why the music and movie industries just can't understand that they will never be able to stop the sharing of their product. Rather than fight with it, put all these resources to use figuring out how to take advantage of such a high demand for your product instead of shitting on people for enjoying it so much and completely ruining the internet, which again, won't even solve the problem.
