There's next to no wasted money on our cap, except for the insane cap figures of Jackson and Dorsey. Is it that simple?
Matt Cassel is a complete waste of cap money.

Not anymore. At $5 million, the dude has somehow become something of a bargain.

It almost has to be Jackson and Dorsey. Lord that's a lot of money to throw at 5-techs...

Doesn't it, though?

No more 5-tech's in the first 5 picks, m'kay? Can we stop doing that now?

And the hell of it is that those contracts are going to form the baseline for their 2nd deals. The only way we bring either of them back without having to work from those deals is to let them go in FA and negotiation in an open market. When they realize that they're rookie deals were insanely inflated, they may come to the table with a reasonable offer.

We should trade Dorsey, trade back in the draft and select Brockers or Poe ~20.

I'm surprised they can't get Dorsey to restructure. I couldn't see him pulling anywhere near 8 mil a year on the free market.

I believe it's the pro-rated portion of a roster bonus...

Sure, and I can understand taking Dorsey knowing that you might have a 4-3 stud DT on your hands, but with TJ and Pioli likely knowing they had Dorsey at the other 5 Tech on the hook for a big contract....

He'll have to learn that when he hits the market.

If you're Dorsey and you know they aren't going to cut you outright, why would you re-structure? Play out your deal, test the market and then if you can't do better, come back to the Chiefs.

If I'm the agent of most of high pick rookies that signed under the old system, I hold firm on that contract as my starting point and then I test the market. Some team will be dumb enough to bite.

Some team is always dumb enough to bite.
