Pestilence's Mock Draft

**** you all......I'm going trade crazy.

The Chiefs trade down from #11 with the Bengals for their 1st (#17), 3rd (#83) and 5th (#166). The Bengals move ahead of the Cowboys and draft David Decastro.

The Chiefs trade down from #17 with the Lions for their 1st (#23) and 3rd (#85). The Lions move up to draft Stephen Gilmore.
Quote:
1st - Devon Still, DE/DT, Penn State

Dorsey is as good as gone next season. I would look to trade him before the draft but I don't see anyone giving up a draft pick for a player AND signing him to a huge contract. Still comes in and immediately becomes Dorsey's replacement. Tyson Jackson might be out next season if he doesn't reschedule his contract numbers as well. That would give the Chiefs Still and Bailey as their DEs.
Quote:
2nd - Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame

It's been brought up multiple times already but moving Eric Berry to FS would not only allow him to play longer (career wise) but also allow him to be the ball hawk that we all know he can be. Smith is good against the run but can also cover the pass as well. Crennel likes to run a lot of three safety formations....so you could put Lewis at FS, Smith at SS and let Berry be the rover.
[B]
Quote:
3rd - Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State

Yes, I have him falling here. I think his lack of experience makes him drop down the board a little bit. He's going to need to sit at least a year and develop. Cassel is going to get another year to prove himself anyways....so why not let Osweiler sit and learn from Zorn.
Quote:
3rd - Josh Chapman, NT, Alabama

Crennel gets his NT. Both Chapman and his agent are saying that he'll be ready for training camp.
Quote:
3rd - Ben Jones, C, Georgia

I'm in the group of people that want Hudson to stay at guard. Jones should be able to come in and start from day 1.
Quote:
4th - Chase Minnifield, CB/KR, Virginia

CB depth is a must......and Minnifield can help spell Arenas when it comes to returning kicks/punts.
Quote:
5th - Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, West Virginia

Our depth at OLB is horrendous. Irvin isn't going to stunt Houston's growth but he will be able to give Hali or Houston a breather.
Quote:
5th - Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU

Albert and Winston are your tackles for the future but it's always nice to have that swing tackle that can fill in for injuries.
Quote:
6th - James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada

LB depth is always good to have.
Quote:
7th - Jeff Fuller, WR, Texas A&M

Quote:
7th - Tauren Poole, RB, Tennessee

I think they go into TC with 4 QBs. Quinn and Stanzi will fight for the #2 spot. Loser gets cut.

Balls out terrific mock.

However, wasn't there this white guy receiver at Texas A&M that was pretty good at that position? I'd take him there in the seventh over the other Aggie receiver.

Swope.

Is Swope coming out this year?

I like him a ton, too. I should probably know this.

If Reynolds is in the fifth, that's a A+.

Guy was a four year, first team all-conference player at left tackle for a pro style system. Freshman first team All-American.

Reliable, dependable, productive. And you give that a C in the fifth round? Really?

That's a great draft and would make this team deep as shit. The trades are pretty valid as well.

Great job Pest.

No, this dude:

I didn't see him at receiver this past year, but he was really solid a couple of seasons ago. Maybe he was injured this past season or something. I liked him as a late round choice. Would be a really good specials teams ace/fourth receiver kind of guy.

Do you have Irvin falling because of character concerns? Because I thought he sealed himself a spot in the second round after the combine

I'd give this draft a B. But I do not share this Board's enthusiasm for Still.

I like this mock but I doubt that Irvin falls that far. Fuller is a solid possession receiver, would have rather seen a playmaker like Joe Adams though. Poole is going to be a solid back as well imo

Nice mock. I'm not crazy about taking another 3-4 DE in the first round, but trading down makes it tolerable. Your mock basically fills every team need. I give it a B+.

You guys might get a 5th rounder for Dorsey and he'll likely get a shitty 2nd contract.
A 4-3 team like Carolina might offer more.
Poor Dorsey, he had so much potential but circumstances have ruined what was once a promising career.
