NOTL BBQ sauce is great. If I buy sauce from the store, it's usually Curley's Famous Hickory BBQ.

He's doing great, thanks for asking. I just saw him earlier tonight. I don't talk about him as much on the CP because people think I'm spamming the board for him.
His sauce is doing very well, and his catering business is starting to take off now that the weather is getting nice. He's got a very cool BBQ rig, and he's re-habbing an old 1952 Dodge Panel Van to pull the rig. That should be on the road by mid-summer. He also still has his radio show on Sunday Mornings on KCMO. That's going well too. He hobnobs with all the big chefs and foodies in KC, and he's starting to get a reputation as a go-to guy for BBQ. You can see his site here: http://www.mrdoggity.com I also really like the Firebug sauce, which is a local sauce too. Highly recommend it if you see it in the store. I tried some and really like it a lot: http://www.firebugkc.com/ |

Right now their (Wabash) spicy sauce is my favorite. But I love Gates and Bryants too. I go through phases. Right now I think I'm kind of burnt out on Gates. I'm behind the times and still haven't had OK Joe's. Jack Stack is the only one listed that I've had and personally wouldn't rank very high.

A lot of people who try Bryant's for the first time don't like it at all, because it's so different from anything they've ever had before. It's not a sweet, grocery store sauce like Kraft, or Maull's, or Bulls Eye, or KC Masterpiece, or whatever other crap is being sold for $.99 a bottle.
Bryants on brisket is a one of a kind taste experience. I wouldn't feed it to kids, but for adults, its wunnerful. |

I need to grab some of doggity's sauce some day. Some of my favorites have already been mentioned especially Firebug but nobody has said "Blues Hog" yet. That stuff is pretty spectacular on pulled pork.

If you go to a music show at Knucklehead's, they serve Doggity BBQ sauce as their sandwich sauce. The couple who owns Knucks are good friends with Mr. Doggity's mom, they all grew up together in the old KC east side neighborhood. Knucklehead's is an outstanding live music venue, always a good time.

There's a place in downtown Lee's Summit called "A Place in Thyme" that carries Mr. Doggity's sauce. You should be able to buy it there.

Yeah - I know it well. I built their teaching kitchen. It's "A Thyme For Everything". I helped get Shannon in there to the best of my recollection.

Just the straight up BBQ sauce - their flagship product. Never had any of their other stuff.
