Vince Wilfork rotated in too. He didn't come right in and start.

Crennel was basically saying "Poe isn't ready to play on first and second down as a fulltime starting NT."

I think we'll see Toribio play a lot of snaps early in the year.

I'm a little less worried about Poe than I was before yesterday. Dude is big, strong, and athletic as hell. Worked really hard at camp, dominated Lilja a few times, Hudson a few times and got pushed back a time or two.

Stayed after and worked with Pleasant for a while too, seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

It might take him some time, but I see the upside.

If a rookie who can't 2 gap is dominating Lilja, we're in trouble.

That was based solely on his TD/INT ratio, which was good but doesn't tell the whole story. He barely completed 58% of his passes and barely threw for 3,000 yds that year. I know we ran the ball a lot that year, but 3,000 yds and 58% is BAD.

Yeah I'm not a fan of him regardless, I'm not sure why he tried comparing NT's to QB's.

I also dislike Crennel. That's huge. If you don't get your first 2 HC hires right, do you deserve a third? F that.
It remains to be seen is we will be able to rush the ball like we did in 2010. Too much film out there on Cassel anymore, and DC's have him figured out for the most part. If we can... I think we make the playoffs.

During Crennel's 3 game trial period, I liked a lot of what he was selling. Especially some things in regards to the QB position. Since then, he is selling company line on Cassel... which concerns me... but I do have hope he can convince Pioli a change is in order if things are not going well.

If he can't. If he is not allowed to coach the way he thinks. Then yes... change is probably needed at GM and HC.

I do wonder quite a bit about our rushing offense. Is it really top 5, or was it just a mirage based on our weak schedule in 2010?

If we're somewhere outside the top 10 in rushing, bad news for Matt.

Not sure either.

IIRC, we had major problems on 3rd and short in 2010 even though we led the league in rushing. 3rd and long was a different story, as it seemed Charles was able to convert an astonishing number of those on the season. I expect that to be taken away for the most part, and Cassel have to convert them instead of Charles.

And I think you are right. Outside of the top 10 in rushing is bad news.

I don't remember what the second half the '09 schedule was like, but Charles ran for 12-1300 yards and averaged 5.9(?) ypc after taking over for LJ.
