I want Cassel gone but the mantra that anybody is better than Cassel is a dangerous one.

Personally I would rather see what Stanzi can do.
With the talented Browns none the less.

at the reeruns that think Quinn is the best QB on the roster.

The sad fact is, Cassel is the best QB on the roster. That's just how ****ing bad our QB situation is. There a only a handfull of teams that have a worse QB situation than we do. But Pioli still thinks that he pulled another Brady out of the rabbit's hat w/ MC unfortunately.

I just hope Daboll is what Cassel needs and with the return of Charles, Moeaki, and the additions of Hillis and Winston will allow MC to prove us all wrong. I really hope so.

Lots of conflicting reports from camp as to which QB looks the best. What I take from all of this is confirmation that the position is a ****ing mess.

The thing with Cassel is being a good soldier is really all he does well. He doesn't have a good throwing motion, has bad mechanics in his footwork, and doesn't read defenses well. He's not accurate either.

I get that he is the safe option, but safe options don't tend to win many playoff games or SB"s.
I see it quite the opposite, while Cassel isn't rocket armed etc...he has enough arm to make all the necessary throws. He is big and tough and can take a beating.

He just doesn't have the mental tools to stand tall and make the reads etc...Physically he is more than adequate.

Yea the bottom line is if Cassel is the best QB on the team that's not good.

Competition at the position shouldn't mean 3 guys with equal levels of suck.

O.city's point isn't really about talent.

It's about mechanics, and both Quinn and Stanzi are more advanced mechanically.

If you have three QBs, you don't have one.

Kind of interesting read over at hawkeyereport.com on Ricky Stanzi going Larry Johnson on Iowa fans and refusing to sign anything Hawkeye related...

I think Brady Quinn is the most physically gifted of the three.

But he's a mental pussy that crumbled under the pressure of expectation.

That's not a guy I want leding my team, and I'll take Matt Cassel over him all day, every day.

Ricky Stanzi is an unknown.

He has a reputation of being a gunslinger.
He lacks experience and maturity.

We don't know what he is, or what he will become.
He's a fifth round prospect, and his chances of ever amounting to anything are slim, at best.

But the chance that Matt Cassel will ever be anything more than he is, a very limited game manager, are even smaller than Stanzi's chances of becoming more than just another fifth round career backup.

At the end of the day, we are almost certainly ****ed no matter which direction we take.

The old saying goes, without risk, there can be no reward.

Cassel is the no risk, no reward option.

Quinn and Stanzi are both mechanically better than Cassel. From a footwork and throwing motion standpoint.

The thing about all these reports and etc. from camp is that for one, it's tough to have a really good camp when you are throwing to guys who likely won't make the team or catch a ball in the NFL. Now, some have said "well they are goin up against the same talent level". That's not necessarily true. It's not necessarily the 2's vs the 2's at all times.

It's likely a moot point, Cassel is the starter. I was just saying from my perspective, Quinn looked to be the more polished qb at this point.

What the **** are you talking about? His time at Penn State?

I went to camp every year LJ was there and he signed after almost every single practice.

This is an instance where perception doesn't meet reality.

Honestly, if you want to Throw a name out of someone that almost never signed autographs, say Tony Gonzalez.

That guy was a douche.
