And we will carry atleast 4 Safeties, so Elam and another will probably make the team.
I forgot about Elam....knew i was forgetting someone.

He plays that "star" role. They experimented with him in different spots.

I think he has played mostly corner, but has seen time at safety also. Remember I heard it somewhere, don't remember where, or to what extent.

That 3-3-5 defense will definately have more options than ever this year. Elam is a big addition in that respect. Also, we could use Arenas and Brown instead of a 3rd safety. Brown is ready to play. I think Menzie will strictly be a ST player this year. Daniels is used to being that 5th DB. He and Lewis double teamed Gates in that formation quite a bit over the past couple of years.

Kind of interesting that Menzie is listed on the depth chart as a corner.

i have no idea why people are slobbering over Brown like hes the second coming. When he gives up big plays when it counts on Sundays and isnt some training camp god a lot of you will be flip flopping and singing a different tune.

I just dont buy in that the guy magically got good from one training camp. The dude got torched a lot last year, there is no reason to think any different. One offseason doesnt solve getting beat by good NFL WRs.

We use too many 3 safety defensive sets to allow that. Menzie needs a year to sit back and play ST anyways.

No reason for him to steal time from our better players.

Our safeties should look like this...

SS - Berry, Elam

FS - Lewis, Daniels, Menzie
Teams typically have 10 DB.

The cuts are going to be really, really painful...

He covered Fitzgerald for the entire first quarter and into the second. He didn't give up a catch against him. The first time Larry lined up on Routt, they threw it to him. What more do you want?

Menzie excelled at covering slot receivers in college. Jeremiah said Menzie was THE best collegiate slot corner in last years draft.

As far as Brown being a training camp god, I haven't heard anything about it. Nothing from fans or media reporting from camp. Sure he's repping with the ones, after Flowers and Daniels went down. Haven't heard of him making many plays consistently.

We had Fitz bracketed much of the time. Not that I'm deflating your point, just pointing it out for the sake of conversation.

We had some weird brackets on him. At one point, DJ was one of the brackets.

Elam was able to pick off a pass bracketing him, though. Even in preseason, Crennel can downright sculpt a defense.
