The only thing Sanchez has over Cassel at this point is he's younger and so there's slim hope he'll grow into the position. On that basis, I'd rather have Sanchez. HOWEVER. Sanchez has not improved year to year at the rate other young QBs have, not even close. It's my opinion that what you see is what you get with him.

The downside though is that it may make a team hesitant to pull the plug on the younger, former 1st round pick. At least with Cassel, a reasonable GM would make the switch already or at least after this year.

On the contrary, his stats have gotten better every year as the talent around him has gotten weaker. He seems to have regressed this year. Some QBs make the players around them better. Sanchez does not.

He's improved incrementally. He has not improved at the same rate as most other young QBs, at the risk of repeating myself.

His stats got better because of the simple fact he threw the ball more. It's not because he got better or anything. His QB rating is consistently terrible, and his completion percentage has been worse than Cassel's every single season.
