Brady Quinn getting half the first team reps

I am surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but according to the radio on 610 this morning, (Bill Maas and Fescoe) Quinn has been getting about 50% of the first team reps in practice this week.

In the short term this is certainly a good thing because Quinn certainly can't be worse than what Cassel has been so far. But I wonder, what if he starts and does decent? Decent enough to warrant not drafting a first round QB next year. I really want the team to win but I want it to be like last week against the Saints every week where we win in spite of the QB, not because of him or with him really contributing. If Quinn does decent will that preclude them from going hard after a QB next season? (If they ever were going to at all).

*EDIT* I found the podcasts where they talk about this. It starts at about 15:10.

http://www.610sports.com/topic/play_...udioId=6054578

Fescoe asks him how RAC feels about Cassel and so they talk about it. At around 15:10 when they talk about it Maas say, "They are keeping their options open...," then he goes on to elaborate around 15:45,

Quote:
He takes a lot of snaps in practice now. It's not like he is just sitting there holding a clipboard giving the scout team look. He is getting about 50% of the reps, on the week in preparation. Maas.
Then they talk about it a little more around the 18:00 mark.

To the casual observer, you appear meek and mild, Mr. mr. tegu. But it appears that, in reality, you can leap conclusions in a single bound.

Why would Crennel choose this moment in time to consider replacing Doofus #1 with Doofus #2? I mean, we just won a game.

Put it like this.... Jamarcus Russell had more yards in one year than Quinn has in his career. Flip that any way you want, that's pathetic.
This has been discussed tons of ****ing times. Injuries, 1st round draft picks and Eric Mangini have ****ed Quinn's career. Has the dude played lights out? No. But it's not like he went in and started 32 games in his career and never threw a TD.

I don't give a **** about excuses. The dude is a bust. He was a first round pick and he failed.

Quinn is better, PERIOD!!!!. I even saw a pass he made under pressure, moving to his right on a rope to that receiver we cut for a TD. Cassel can only dream about making that kind of throw. He is calmer in the pocket and looked like a REAL QB. Anybody who blindly says Cassel is the best QB on this team is an idiot and I would seriously question your football knowledge. Cassel is the WORST starting QB in the league, hands down. Quinn never really got a shot. I know this, he has more natural TALENT than Cassel. Cassel never even got off the bench in college in FOUR FKIN YEARS!!!! I hope the hell they yank his ass if we start off slow.....We KNOW we ain't winning ish with Cassel, why not give Quinn a chance? Better arm, better pocket presence, better athlete, more mobile, even more confidence. Cassel sucks to the highest level of sucktivity!!!!

As the Chiefs say.....GET A CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This.

I'm very skeptical of the sources. Maas and Fescoe don't exactly have credibility on their side.

I could use that same excuse about not getting a shot that you just used for Quinn.
