Chiefs Brady Quinn getting half the first team reps - Page 7

I am surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but according to the radio on 610 this morning, (Bill Maas and Fescoe) Quinn has been getting about 50% of the first team reps in practice this week.

In the short term this is certainly a good thing because Quinn certainly can't be worse than what Cassel has been so far. But I wonder, what if he starts and does decent? Decent enough to warrant not drafting a first round QB next year. I really want the team to win but I want it to be like last week against the Saints every week where we win in spite of the QB, not because of him or with him really contributing. If Quinn does decent will that preclude them from going hard after a QB next season? (If they ever were going to at all).

Fescoe asks him how RAC feels about Cassel and so they talk about it. At around 15:10 when they talk about it Maas say, "They are keeping their options open...," then he goes on to elaborate around 15:45,

I agree he's a bust but that doesn't mean he isn't better than what we've been seeing. The guy can make throws, and probably has the guts to actually try to make those throws.

McCLuster could play QB for all I care.
Cassel is in no way a QB to do anything in the playoffs against good teams; and certainly not good enough to get to and win the SB.

the SB is the goal. We've been conditioned to think 9-7 is a good year; and that 'we're just a few players away' etc.

Team is going nowhere but .500 + /1 a game or so; getting into the playoffs/squeeking in, and getting smoked.

End game is a SB. Cassel ain't it. Not suggesting Quinn is by any means, but I KNOW Cassel isn't.

Maybe if he doesn't play like ass in preseason games, Broncos fans wouldn't have been so eager to skip over him for Tebow.

I can promise you for a FACT Quinn wont do shit with this franchise either.

Neither Quinn or Cassel should be on an NFL roster and BOTH of them are a Chief...

Quinn looked pretty damn good in preseason and threw a MUCH better ball the Cassel...It's not even close. I see college QBs every Saturday better than Cassel.....

I'm dreaming of the day when Chiefs QB and Cassel will never be spoken in the same sentence again, and it can't happen soon enough.

I don't care if Quinn is better or worse. He is different and he is not Cassel and that is plenty good enough for me.
