Football Eliminating the Kneeldown - Page 3

We all know that the quarterback kneeldown to end a game is one of the most boring plays in the world. It's designed so that nothing can happen. Personally, I thank Romeo Crennel for completely eliminating it from our playbook, but I'm getting tired of seeing our opponents constantly calling this play.

So I have an idea to eliminate it. How's this?

In the last two minutes of the game, the clock doesn't move on any play that doesn't gain yardage while the offensive team has the lead.

Tie game? No effect. Trailing team has the ball? No effect. But a team that's leading has to be making positive progress. Otherwise, the clock is reset to its previous time after the play.

The Chiefs should just punt on first down, pin the opposing team inside the 2 yard line and try to win with points off safeties.

IF they are going to eliminate anything they need to eliminate the damn head coach hand shake, and take away the commishes right to suspend head coaches in the event of a post game fight at midfield. So that way the losing coach can say "hey, if you kneel down we are going to have a fight when the clock expires". or "if you rough up my players during a kneel down, we are going to have a fight". Award playoff tie breaker points to coches who defeat the other coach in the post game fights. This practice needs to be encouraged.

This is why the kneel down became a play. I was at this game. I'm a NYG fan. All Pisarcik needed to do was kneel down and we win. But no.

The winning team should be able to execute the simplest of plays if they truly deserve victory. The reason the Giants lost that day is because they weren't as good as the Eagles for 60 minutes. They were only better for 59.

They do run the shot clock down in Basketball when your ahead. Not the same but in the same spirit.
