I've made them, certainly worth trying. I also make different variations. I leave off the bacon weave and fill it with things other than bacon. A favorite of mine is an apple, date, blue cheese rolled in sausage and smoked.
I'm taking one to in-laws that is Thanksgiving stuffing rolled in sausage and smoked. |

I used to judge BBQ competitions years ago. The Star did a write-up on this tasty treat one year and suddenly 1/3 or more of the competitors (at some of the contests, not all) were submitting this for their miscellaneous category entry. I think I must have tried 30 at one competition one year.
It's good shit Maynard. |

I fail. BUT I hope my smoking is successful tomorrow! Supposed to be 40 degrees on the shores of Lake Michigan, sunny, and perfect touch football weather. Life is good! The only things that would make tomorrow better would be if the Swedish Bikini Team http://www.uspsa2.org/sbt.htm was playing and Budweiser sent a beer truck! I made it once, after I slapped it on a plate I wasn't sure how to eat it lol. I just used a forked and ate it. I felt horrible afterwards. Think it'll be better as a burger.

Made it once. It's delicious, but you can literally have one slice and then you're done. It's just too much grease.
