(just to be clear.. I rate Bond actors separately from the quality of the movies they were in... which is why Pierce Brosnan is #2 on my list even though his movies were pretty terrible) |

same. Moore had the best lines with sexual innuendo and delivered them best.

He gets sort of dumped on now, But i liked Moore. It was a different era of movies then, and he was perfect for that. He did appear in a few awful Bond flicks *cough*Moonraker*cough* but that wasnt his fault.
He alsomade probably a few too many Bond movies. He was getting pretty old for the last couple of them.

IIRC, they actually kind of play him as Grampa Jimmy, as opposed to Bond, James Bond.

Yea….i actually watched it again on Netflix a few weeks ago. It wasn’t too bad, and I liked how they played it as he was an older, more out of shape Bond. Its an interesting “alternative” Bond since it exists outside the official “Canon”.

You couldn't pay me to watch a Roger Moore Bond movie. I liked them when I was a kid, but as an adult they've aged about as well as Lost in Space. The only Bond movie I own is Casino Royale. And I had never watched one in the theater until Skyfall.

For Your Eyes Only is Moore's best James Bond movie because it has a serious tone. The producers were too involved in schtick during most of the 70's and 80's. Moore is a much better actor than those movies allowed.
I think Daniel Craig has been the quintessential Bond but I do believe that Pierce Brosnan, if given the chance to be in all three movies that feature Craig, would have given an equally excellent performance. He too was stuck with dopey schtick. Christmas comes twice a year? |

Wow, I'm glad to finally see people with like-mind on Roger Moore.
He was an excellent Bond, some of the scripts just happen to suck ass. Same with Brosnan. Goldeneye was a great flick, but it had a few stupid cheesy parts they could've done without.... and the 2 films after that were just reeruned over the top action crap. |
