Chiefs Chiefs' Player Jevon Belcher involved in murder-suicide, shoots self at Arrowhead - Page 11

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

The best information we have right now is that Jevon murdered his GF and then drove to practice and committed suicide in front of coaches. Inflicting insurmountable pain on the GF's family, created horrible memories that the coaches will never forget. And lastly but not least a 2.5 month old baby that will grow up with this tragedy.

I agree with you to a point, but what if he was suffering a untreated medical issue, like depression? I mean, people who suffer untreated medical issues can do irrational things.

Just throwing that out there, that's all.

It's still a shitty situation one way or another.

I am essentially without words right now. I feel for that woman and her child, along with Jevon if this was a mental state and not a burst of anger. I also feel guilty for having thoughts on how this affects the Chiefs future and the things we are hoping to get out of it, but I can't lie, it's going through my head as well.

I also wonder if it's also because it's Saturday morning when almost all of the stations are showing their Federally mandated educational programming. There are a ton of kids watching but more importantly they would have to re-air the programs at a later time or date if they fail to air them now.
