Chiefs Chiefs' Player Jevon Belcher involved in murder-suicide, shoots self at Arrowhead - Page 162

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

When they put his star on Hollywood Blvd, erect a statue at Arrowhead, name a street after him, or retire his number THEN I think the hysteria that Banyon and others have exhibited over this is warranted.

I think the reason these emotions are so conflicting is that this seems to be a crime of passion. This isn't like Columbine or the DKR shooting at the theater. This wasn't a premeditated act of insane aggression against strangers. This seems to be a crime of passion, a moment of insanity that, as terrifying as it is, we are all capable of.

It's harder to think of someone as a monster when you know that this action is not part of their core character. I don't envy any of his friends. I cannot even begin to think what it would be like if my best friend killed his wife, who I introduced him to. I would still love him, I would still love her. It would be horrible, and god knows I wouldn't be ready to make a VERY public declaration on the organization of my emotions and thoughts the next morning.

c'mon people...go hug your family and tell them you love them and hope and pray you never ever have to experience something like this.

other than that, let the dead rest in peace, let the people personally involved grieve in a way that makes sense to them in a situation that is hard to wrap your head and heart around.

pray for his mom, who not only has to raise and explain this to her granddaughter, she has to live with being an eyewitness and with part of her family being rocked to the core.

lighten up and be glad you have someone who loves you..some people don't even have that...

..love doesn't have to always wax cold in a incredibly difficult and hearbreaking tragical event.

Danan Hughes was just on 610 talking about how he as a player would have 'lost it' and his state of mind would have been affected if he was forced to walk by a locker that had been cleaned out prior to game time.

He said that the uniform was left to help the players cope more so than any type of tribute being paid. He said he had no problems with it as long as the players needed it and it was done to help them. He felt the Chiefs have handled everything very well so far.

I thought that was an interesting perspective.

I think so too. He's holding up and 'being a leader those young men need' but I think it's easy when you are holding up FOR everyone else. Once the season is over and he has time to decompress he might have a reaction he doesn't have the time for right now.
