Don't want to start a panic, but I know we are all thinking the same thing even if we want to ignore it. Clark SAYS he is gonna hire a vet coach that's experienced in what we need and that Pioli won't play a part in the search, but then we keep hearing about guys Pioli has connections with getting interviews and how Clark hasn't even contacted Andy Reid.

I may be jumping the gun here, but this is starting to remind me of last years "we are gonna bring in qb competition" talks that we all know how that ended.

Is this a "fool me once..." type scenario or are all the tree coaches interviewing just bs leaked by Pioli to create the impression he still has his nuts?

Should we be pissed?

Nobody ever said KC's GM wouldn't acquire the players on the field... Not to my knowledge. My understanding is the coach would report to Clark, and he and the GM would likely work together on player acquisition.

50-50 my ass. Clark isn't so stupid to believe that he's really going to resolve debates about personnel. To use another Seinfeld line, the HC is going to have hand in this relationship.

Who becomes the GM?

Who wants to put their job security in the hands of a guy like Dirk Koetter?

Flip side - he hires a retread like Cowher, Billick or Gruden - all guys that want total control.

The GM is going to be a cap/contract guy, and nothing more.

He built a super bowl team with two different teams. Both from scratch. We don't know what he could have done with a guy like weeden. But his value is how he coaches guys on the field, not the gm chess game. I am not ignoring Cleveland. I hate coaches who are GMs. And there is a difference between him running the scouting network in Cleveland versus in Kansas city, where his job is to let his personnel guys do the heavy lifting in scouting. It doesn't reflect on what he could have done to coach up those same players better than shurmur did.

And you keep skipping Seattle like they were nothing. They made the super bowl and won lots of playoff games. His track record there was every bit as impressive as cowhers.

Doesn't Have say of the GM hire. Has say in Pioli's fate. Never said they'd have a say in his replacement. Although it would make sense. Say in who you want getting your groceries.

The new GM might be already working for the Chiefs, wouldn't surprise me at all of a promotion from within.

Deez, I don't buy fluff. But he spent a week studying with chip Kelly to understand their scheme. Almost became offensive coordinator there. He spent a whole summer watching high school offenses run the spread. Its not rhetoric. The guy has done his homework on the spread. Extensive homework. That is different from saying out loud during a game that he likes matt Cassel.
