What Andy Reid wants...

For those who think the Arizona deal is going to happen this fast, think again. John Clayton reported that Andy Reid wants to look around the league and hear from a couple of teams that includes the Chiefs, he shows interest for the Chiefs. Reid wants to shop around to find the right job for him. He's not looking to make that quick decision.
BTW this was on NFL Live like 5 mins ago.

I'm hiring someone based on what he's done.
From a personality standpoint, yes. Schemes can change. I need proof cowher will open up his offense. Grudens strong comments on the spread make it very clear that he wants an aerial offense.

I never said coaches don't change. Bellichick is a great example of a coach whose scheme has changed impressively over time. Tomlin adjusted from Tampa 2 to labeaus zone blitz 3-4. But as you get older and more experienced with the scheme, we see coaches very often stick with old tricks. Reid is going to run west coast. We know that. Cowher will run zone blitz 3-4. We know that. Gruden is an exception because he isn't paying lip service. He studied for a full week boot camp with chip Kelly to learn his offense and has directly said when talking scheme he believes the game is shifting to a passing league. You can't read up in grudens study of the spread and not think his scheme will be totally different.
Romeo was coaching like its 1988.

Today's NFL defense is all about pass rush and Romeo had two elite rush backers and almost every other defender has shown the ability to effectively blitz and Romeo drops everyone, all day.

The small sample size of when he blitzed more, the defense flashed top five quality.

So your proof for Gruden is based on whats he's said in the booth while announcing? Based on that, wouldn't he want to keep Cassel cause he knobbed him pretty good.

Cowher

But even with the limitations of this criteria, I still might think outside the box and look at Marc Trestman.

Years of NFL experience at OC, followed with multiple Grey Cups in the CFL as the HC.

While I'm not a huge fan of retreads, we are talking about super bowl coaches against a guy passed over for 30 years who happened to have an impressive season against a pattycake schedule. He deserves coach of the year. I care more about which coach builds the best team for year 3. It's amazing to me that he's hyped to the point where he is in the same conversation as those guys.
Why do you keep referring to him as Grudens?

No, were you listening? I said I don't care about sound bytes in the media.

Gruden has spent a lot of time with chip Kelly. He hasn't just dusted over the spread. He is studied it intently.

""All the high schools now are in the spread, most of the college teams I look at are in the spread - if you watch pro football, it's a lot more shotgun and spread-oriented,'' Gruden said. "They're going to gravitate to that more and more.''

David Shaw would be my top choice, but I don't believe he's going anywhere, and if he did, I'd be wary of a guy that makes the commitment that he just did, then just ups and leaves.

All we have from him on the subject is soundbites. We don't know what he will do at this point.

I like him as a HC based on what he's done and would love to have him, but not based on the things he's said in an Oregon blog.

Normally those extensions are meaningless. But that's his alma mater and he's been clear. Unfortunately.
