Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

I don't think he's played much under center for whatever that's worth?

I have read that his mechanics need work too. Frankly I haven't watched WV this season, just playing devils advocate to answer your post as these are things I have read about the dude in a couple places.

I'm skeptical as heck about that Glennon after watching their bowl, he looks like a stiff w/ measurables. No thanks.

Matt Barkley? When I watch him I see a good college QB but nothing about him wows me thinking about the pros.

I like Tyler Bray personally but he ain't a sure thing either. I have seen him a little more this yr than some others. I just think he has a really good arm, makes all the throws you need to in the pros, nice size. I don't think he played as well at UT as he should have just based on pure ability but he still looks like a heck of a prospect. What I mean by that is he makes throws that most guys can't make but then misses on some others. It's mechanics I think. Sometimes they look fine, other times he's not stepping all the way through. Seems easily correctable for a guy like Reid.

I like Tyler Wilson too. Good arm. Again can make all the throws. I think a guy like Reid could maximize his talent similar to Bray.

For me personally I will be (like pretty much all of CP) freaking furious if they don't take a QB high whomever it is. Whether its 1 overall or they manage to move down a little and still get the first one off the board. Whatever.

I am convinced there are no sure things this yr. That to me isn't a reason not draft a guy but it is a reason to not flip out if someone else thinks differently than I do.

RG3 played the same defenses last year.

And isn't that just it in the end. People talk about how taking Geno is a risk. Well, um, give me a scenario that isn't a risk but ALSO includes us actually getting a real QB, which can't be argued against as completely necessary in today's NFL.
Oh absolutely.
If you haven't figured out that it's a passing league and drafting a guy high that's ultimately a top ten qb in the league is the easiest path to the SB then you've hiding under a rock for 15+ years.

There aren't any Chiefs forums or sites that I can find that arent advocating Geno for #1. Yeah there are a few nutjobs that want Joeckel, but the vast majority of Chiefs fans are in the Geno bandwagon.

A couple idiots think there's only gonna be one QB taken in the first round on some of those Chiefs boards. Dumbest fans in the league.

?

As did Brandon Weeden and Ryan Tannehill.

The point isn't that it means the guys a bust but rather that it can and does inflate guys stats.

It's a consideration not a strict guideline.

There's no question they have to take one be it GS or someone else.

They already have a tackle. Nothing wrong w/ Albert. Quite the opposite.

I am not even getting into how good Joeckel will be in the pros. He'll probably be really good. That's not the point. It would be absolutely asinine.

Geno had almost identical stats as RG3.

Almost identical completion percentage. Against the same competition.

But you ask if Geno's is inflated due to the defenses he played, did you ask the same about RG3?

maybe you should go spend some time watching the guy play rather than wasting it playing devils advocate

Now the haters are feeling the need to compare Geno to a "less athletic Vince Young." I'm convinced that these clowns want this franchise to suffer.

I didn't watch enough of him to know what are his knocks.

Impressive stats. Seemed accurate.

Why exactly won't he be a starting QB in the league? Are there throws he can't make?

There is a chart of all his throwing percentages to all parts of the field around here.

Similar stats doesn't guarantee that they are the same caliber of player. They were on different teams in different systems.

To your last point we're just having a conversation in Jan. I am not hating on the guy. Far from it. Frankly I'm perfectly fine w/ them taking him if that's what they want to do. Relax.
