If we pass on him, how far will Geno fall?

Let's look at this from another angle. Say we take *insert player here* instead of Geno Smith. Who grabs him instead of us? I say the Raiders won't be able to not take him, and we get to pay for it for about a decade.

This is a quarterback league. There is no position on the field more important to a team. I still say Geno is the pick based on that fact alone, but if I'm wrong, there is going to be a team picking not that far behind us that will thanks us greatly and swipe him up. Opinions?

I actually went by this year's NFL draft value chart. (http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php). Our 1st pick is worth 3000 points. theirs, 1800 points. AT best, though somewhat unlikely) they can command a mid to late 2nd rounder for Foles. Say around 400 points. their 2nd round pic is worth in the neighborhood of 540. So they will be giving us back 940 +/- instead of the 1200 difference. If they are in love with Smith and Reid is in love with Foles, I think both parties will disregard the remaining 260 points.

I admit, this is actually making it very favorable to the Eagles. So if they throw in their 3rd rounder as well (250ish) this deal will be a definite go IMO.

So I guess I adjust my prediction to this to be fair to everybody:

Chiefs 1st <===> Eagles 1st + 2nd + 3rd + Foles
Yeah, if they do a trade like that for anything LESS than what you have there, we're getting robbed.

I know everyone says the Raiders love him and want him at 3, but I don't get how Reggie McKenzie does that and Dorsey doesn't if they both came from the exact same Packers background where it is about BPA. The only way that happens is if their scouts and our scouts see the same player totally differently, and that may happen between a couple of scouts, but between an entire scouting organization for a player who is rated as the top QB? I have a hard time seeing that. 810 was interviewing Andrew Brandt the other day who worked with both McKenzie and Dorsey and Seattle's John Schneider, who came from the same tree, and indicated that McKenzie was the more deliberate, cautious, take your time guy, Schneider was the more aggressive risk taker, and he thought Dorsey would fall somewhere in the middle. So if Oakland takes Geno, then either their scouting department is nuts, ours is out to lunch, or McKenzie is going to be doing something out of character...

I think the most likely scenario is that:

1) the "reports" about what the Chiefs are thinking are bullshit or
2) the "reports" about what the Raiders are thinking are bullshit or
3) the "reports" about BOTH teams are bullshit.

It's most likely #3.

Well, except we DO have an actual interview from Dorsey that sheds some light. Though obviously his opinion can change from now until the draft.

I am serious. Andy Reid is going to think he can fix Matt Cassel and he can use that pick elsewhere. Anything can happen at this point, but as the draft get closer I think this will be more apparent to the faithful.

I have to disagree.

Dorsey has flat-out said that all of the QB's in the 2013 draft have warts and at this point, don't merit a first round grade (let alone, #1 overall). He did admit that at least two QB's will be chosen in the first round but that's due to need, not due to talent.

I don't know how that can be viewed as conjecture or bullshit or anything more than most people have been stating for the past several months.

Yeah, there's no escaping that interview.

Dorsey's own words have to be troubling for any of us that want Geno. We can ignore them if we'd like, but it's certainly tough to say they don't matter.

It's a question of whether or not his statements made last week turn out to be BS after everything is said and done.

I fully expect for the ENTIRETY of the ethersphere to reverse course on these QBs starting sometime next week.

And in my opinion, the entire interview is troubling because it's clear that they've looked at game film and still can't make a determination as to who is the most talented and NFL-ready QB.

The mere fact that not only will a Chiefs contingent be traveling to each and every possible candidate's Pro Day, but that the Chiefs organization will host QB's at Arrowhead in order further examine these individuals, further illustrates the numerous flaw in the the 2013 draft class

Regardless of people's hopes and wishes to the contrary.

I would be troubled if the organization didn't do this, regardless of the perceived quality of the class as a whole, when holding the #1 overall pick.
