Wood-Like Porcelain Tiles
Our carpet is on its last legs. I have wood floors in the great room but the addition of our K9 Buddy takes it's toll. Someone suggested porcelain tiles that look like wood.
Anybody have this? Do you have dogs/kids? Looks nice to me. Not cheap though. http://www.flooranddecoroutlets.com/wood-plank.html |

Also, depending on the vendor/manufacturer there could be a hefty cost for shipping. Depending where they're located.

I have a dry basement and am thinking about using this stuff instead of wood.
Question, would any of you ever put wood in a basement. |

There's solid, click bamboo and solid click handscraped that's able to be used below grade. There's also a pad out there called Elastilon made specifically for basements or slabs which allows you to put solid wood on a slab or basement. |

Almost went that direction but decided on some engineered hardwood considering we're thinking of selling in a year or two. We like the tile better but were unsure of the general response of potential home buyers in Northwest Arkansas. Folks in these parts are not known for being real experimental when it comes to home finishes...

We/he also poured 2 concret counters instead og granite and acid stained them. Look amazing. You could acid stain a basement floor to look like marble for cheap andseal it.

We looked into this, but it would be damned expensive compared to any other surface. I don't think it's something you can do on your own without significant experience, and it's a pretty cold surface, so you're also looking at the potential cost of a heated sublayer.
I personally think it can look nice, especially with near invisible grout line.

We have it on our ground floor, some which looks like bamboo. 12x18" tiles. Very nice, but yeah expensive and if you have a raised foundation your subfloor has to be set and sturdy as hell.

That looks fantastic. We decided not to install it in our house now, because it's more of a starter home. Love it in our next house, though.

When we recently remodeled our master bath, we put that in as the skirting around our "bubble tub" so it would have a stand alone hot tub look to it. Decided to use it as a baseboard substitute as well as in the walk in shower. So none of it actually ended up on the floor.... Nevermind
