Well, it looks like the deal is done.
https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith Jay Glazer @JayGlazer Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith. |

50% of all 49er threads get locked due to this reason. When Alex Smith makes a dumb interception, they will blame play calling or route running or proclaim all QBs make dumb mistakes.. If that fails, then it will be, well its only his first year with the team and he needs a chance to build a connection with his guys. Don't buy it. There is no connection coming. Just check downs and overthrows. |

49er fans coming here reminds me of how a few of us will probably be when some sucker team signs Matt Cassel and we will send an away team to their board to warn them.
The exact same things will be said of Cassel as are being said of Alex Smith. It's eerie. |

He got banned from his own board, and now they have all followed him here to bash him. This is epic.

I'm just holding out hope that there are major details of the trade that haven't been made public.
If its a swap of second rounders (as John Clayton reported) then the deal isn't nearly as bad. |

The only thing negative is you still won't win right away with Smith unless you have an epic defense and a solid special teams. |

Basically, they believe this is only his second year in the league, and for a second year kid, he was doing great. Eveything before that does not count because the 49ers organization screwed him somehow until Harbaugh came. Also, they will cite that he has improved every year. Yea, well when you throw for 50%, 1 TD and 11int in your rookie season, there is nowhere to go but up. His second season in 16 games he thre for 2,800 yards (LOL) 16 td 16 int season and they called it a hit.... |

I just have a hard time believing that Reid and Dorsey agreed to form Voltron in Kansas City and that their first move is to pass on all college quarterbacks in he first two rounds and to trade two extremely valuable picks for a game manager...especially when Andy Reid said he wants a quarterback that can win games for him, not just a game manager.
It just doesn't add up. These guys have to have a better plan in place than Alex Smith to fix the quarterback position in KC and give us hope on a championship sometime in the next ten years. |
