If we pass on him, how far will Geno fall?

Let's look at this from another angle. Say we take *insert player here* instead of Geno Smith. Who grabs him instead of us? I say the Raiders won't be able to not take him, and we get to pay for it for about a decade.

This is a quarterback league. There is no position on the field more important to a team. I still say Geno is the pick based on that fact alone, but if I'm wrong, there is going to be a team picking not that far behind us that will thanks us greatly and swipe him up. Opinions?

So the Eagles sent Kelly, their GM and their owner to work out Geno Smith yesterday.

Yeah, no interest from them at all...

There's your trade partner, gentlemen. Even if you don't want Geno Smith, the Eagles have now shown enough interest that you draft him anyway and you leverage him against the Raiders and Eagles for whatever they're willing to give you.

This can still become a legitimate bidding war.

This would be a beautiful scenario for the Chiefs. But we don't have as much leverage as you think, because the Eagles can make the same trade with the Jags. That is unless we threaten them that WE would pick Geno with the first.

Look, we all did things we weren't proud of then. Some heralded the coming of Matt Cassel. Some were brainwashed into thinking all of these moves were golden. And there were people like me who thought the Cassel trade, the entire 2009 draft, and the coaching staff hires were absolute garbage, but because I bought so strongly into the Pioli resume, I said nothing. It took me a few years to finally realize just how shitty Pioli was, and I didn't become exceptionally vocal about it until Babb's Arrowhead Anxiety article.

That's why I said we should just draft him.

Moroever, go ahead and try to make the deal with the Jags....we'll make a nice little deal with the Raiders and you'll have given up assets for literally nothing.

There's an easy way to play this, even with the Jags pick in play. You either leverage your draft position as creating the possibility that you could take him or you suggest that you'll swap with the Raiders, who now know they have to move ahead of Philly and may be willing to pay for it.

And if both the Raiders and Eagles call your bluff, you ****ing draft him.
