Alex Gordon says: “I’m going to dominate next year,”
http://www.kansascity.com/2010/09/21...-dominate.html Alex Gordon is already putting down a marker for next year as this season — a transition season that saw him switch from third base to left field — winds through the final two weeks. “I’m going to dominate next year,” he vowed, “I can tell you that. Not that this year is over, but I’m going to dominate next year.” The words, as always with Gordon, come quietly. And, yes, he knows his production this year, or throughout his four-year career, offers little to support what, for him, is a rare proclamation. Gordon has six homers and just 16 RBIs in 52 games since returning from Class AAA Omaha. He also has 45 strikeouts in 203 plate appearances while batting .233 with a .325 on-base percentage. No matter. “I’ve shown flashes,” he said, “but something that’s bothered me is I haven’t been consistent. I show flashes, and then I go into a little bit of a slump that kind of erases what I did. “I just need to figure out how to be consistent and put it all together throughout the year.” There seems little doubt he will get a chance to validate his words. General manager Dayton Moore said Gordon remains a key component in the Royals’ future as club officials shape their off-season plans. “I think Alex is going to have a great year next year,” Moore said. “I really do. I think Alex is going to be a solid contributor. I’ll say this: You can win a championship with Alex Gordon on your club. “We’re counting on him to be that type of guy when we’re ready to win.” That seems to spike any lingering speculation that Gordon faced a make-or-break stretch this summer after returning in mid-July from Omaha to become the club’s regular left fielder. “I think he’s going to be fine,” manager Ned Yost said. “Do I think he’s going to hit .300? Maybe not. But do I think he’s got a chance to hit 20-25 homers and drive in 80-85 runs? Yeah. He’s got a chance to take some walks and be a productive hitter for us.” Gordon sees that and more. “I feel comfortable in left field,” he said. “I was struggling at third, and it was taking too much out of me. My numbers aren’t where I want them to be. I’m not producing like I want to produce. “But I’m feeling good out there, and I think it’s going to come around.” Read more: http://www.kansascity.com/2010/09/21...#ixzz10HXcYfgJ |

We need more grand slams.
I watched ESPN top plays of the day yesterday and it wasn't mentioned. Just a few NBA dunks and 3 pointers like that is anything special. |

Yep. If it was a Yankees/Red Sox game it would've been #1.

I went back and read thru this thread, which started in 2011. Alex was much better last year, and looks like he is off to an all star year this year. For where he was drafted, and the expectations we've had for him, he's just now starting to blossom. I think left field has done a lot for his career. He seems better suited to the OF than at 3B. Also in the outfield, he's now out of George Brett's shadow, and unrealistic comparisons. I'm happy for him, and hopes he keeps raking. We need his bat and his defense.

It didn't help that he was the best college baseball player the midwest had ever seen. He killed any pitching he saw. He had like 10 homeruns against Jayhawk pitching alone one year.

I'm not one with a trigger finger for HOC nominations.
But if anyone had told us in September 2010 that Alex Gordon would dominate for the Royals in October.. Well, the responses in this thread should give one an idea. Thank you for everything, Alex. Crow has never tasted so good. Last edited by Chiefspants; 01-14-2016 at 03:28 PM.. |

Yeah, he dominated.
Gazillions of gold gloves and a platinum one there, throwing guys out, and parking home runs, especially in Game 1 of the WS. That one will be talked about for years to come. Legendary.

He'll get the last laugh when his number is retired and a statue is put in in the outfield plaza
