Step into my one-thread pub. *casually wipes down bar*

I have had a stupendous month. It has probably been one of the best months of my life, if not the best month.

I was going to go out and celebrate, but it started raining cats and dogs.

So I'm in tonight. Drinking, as we speak, a Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, which I don't really like, but a neighbor I just met and socialized with gave it to me as a gift, so I feel like I'm obligated.

But I'm behind the bar.

Pull up a stool. Since this is the internet, and also not real, we've got a limitless drink selection and everything's free.

This is the people's thread. Shit all over it, or just **** around. I'm here all night.

Some random thoughts that have been rattling around in my brain recently, and potential conversation starters:
  • I was going to do something masturbatory (er, even more masturbatory, I suppose) and start a ChiefsPlanet Poster of the Week thread, and nominate Simply Red, since he has been flooding my inbox with all kinds of cool-as-shit techno from twenty years ago, and also is a really unique weirdo that gives this forum an extra twinge of flavor. He's like ChiefsPlanet's sarsaparilla.
  • Because of all the George Zimmerman stuff the past couple weeks, I've been thinking a lot about race and, more broadly, culture. I don't know where some closed-minded people get the idea that we should totally be blind to different races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and whatever. I like having friends of different races, at times I seem to prefer it over having white friends simply because I love hearing about other cultures and lifestyles.

Among my inner circle of friends, one (probably my best friend) is a gay dude, and another is a hardcore libertarian -- and I think I prefer talking to them because of our differences more than I do people who have the same experiences and opinions as me. I think a post-racial world, if such a thing exists, is a world where differences are not ignored for the greater good, it's that they are openly acknowledged and celebrated, which creates its own greater good.
  • Is it okay for grown men to have best friends? I don't think so. I don't know what it is, but I always hesitate to call one or two of my closest friends "best friends." Even though that's technically what we are... Vote in this thread.
  • I am also pissed off at all my inner circle friends, save a couple, for moving out of Springfield and into awesome towns like Honolulu, Portland, Austin, and Chicago, among others. It takes a lot of work to make a really good friend, and them moving out means I have to make another or something. And that's a royal pain in the ass.
  • I had two firsts back in June: I had my first brandy, and my first cognac. Cognacs taste like death; my god, it tastes like grain alcohol on steroids, it is so ****ing strong. Brandy tastes like pancake syrup. Too sweet for my tastes.
Other thoughts will develop as the thread prattles on, or falls swiftly to the second page.

Pull up a stool, order a beer, or whatever. And we'll get luv to dance on the bar or something.

I hate DC right now, too. I hate all but a few of those posters...even those who are sort of on "my side". ****...I "like" more of the posters on the left than I do on the right.

That shit makes me so mad.

I'm not familiar with their business model. But if they just made everything available to stream, it'd make a shit ton of money.

Beyond that, it's basically just Redbox.

It is shit.

A big steaming pile of shit. Amazon Prime isn't any better, either.

I'm with you, man. I've mixed vodka with everything under the sun. Root Beer was a wonderful fit. A couple of the different Mountain Dew flavors are good too, the Voltage one being the best I believe. But Root Beer is by far my drink of choice now. I get so many weird looks when I order it though.

I can answer that one, actually.

Banyon has been less and less invested in DC, mostly because he felt like serious, weighty issues are hardly considered in that forum over symbolic-and-otherwise-meaningless shit. Of course, I mostly considered his threads to be on the dull side, and that's why I was less prone to participate. Also, I agree with him around 90% of the time, and it's harder to have a political conversation with somebody you agree with. Or at least it is for me.

As for orange: AustinChief and orange got into a thing, and well, you probably know all the beats to that one. AC eventually lost his shit, edited one of orange's posts, and refused to change it back until orange admitted he was wrong. Orange left the entire forum in protest.

I agree, though. Both of them are very high quality posters, and DC is poorer for both of their absences.

It's the one liquor that I can drink the cheap shit and not care.

Cheap Vodka - Yes
Cheap Rum - Doable
Cheap (or expensive) Whiskey - Shit
Scotch- Go fist yourself
Tequila of any ilk - Impale yourself on a cactus
