Sure its a win now approach. This is the NFL. Everyone has a short window to win that doesn't have a Brady in his prime.

We only have a 3-4 year window to win a Super Bowl. Hali has two years left as a top level DE. In the 2017-18 season Flowers, DJ, Charles, Berry, Hali and Smith will all be washed up or beginning their down slide due to age. 2014 and 2015-16 our the years in this window with our best chance to win a Super Bowl.

The key is obviously Smith. If he is what Dorsey/Reid think we are golden for the window. If the Planet is right, we are screwed again.

You're assuming that Smith is our QB 3 years from now or that they won't keep swinging for a new QB.

Smith will get at least two years. A new QB in year 3 would be too late for the window. The learning curve and the chemistry will be too strong of a headwind to realistically take advantage of an aging roster.

And if Smith has turned his game around... which I happen to think he has done... we could have an 8 to 9 year run where we could be right in the thick of things.
