It's a stupid idea and won't go ahead I don't think. Cameron was making a speech/policy about child pornography and how to make internet providers stop people accessing this stuff, without realising that the majority of child porn is not on the mainstream web and is shared p2p etc. Then he somehow put regular porn into the same category as child porn and has made a policy that basically already exists (i.e. you can opt out by calling your internet provider, which responsible parents already do)
This is a policy made simply to pander to the right wing media of middle England who like to get outraged by any smut, but has no basis in reality and won't actually work (you think kids won't get porn over the internet any other way if they really want?!) P2p etc... Sex ed in the UK is terrible (we are British don't you know and we don't like to talk about that stuff), which is the biggest problem. You start talking to 15-16 year olds about sex and for half of the kids you are about 5 years too late and the other half you are preaching to the choir anyway. Just my 2 cents. Or 2 pennies as we say over here... |
