It was decent action, but the anchor around it's neck for me was the heavy handed leftwing political theme. It wasn't smart or interesting. It was what you'd expect from a movie if loneiguana wrote it. It could have been so much better.

Couldn't you argue that the movie represented the outcome of an out of control, tyrannical government which had no checks or balances?

Yes. It had the kind of out of control, tyrannical government that a leftwinger might imagine you'd get (incorrectly, of course) if there were no checks or balances to keep Republicans from having their evil way. At least that's how I saw it.
