Maybe they had to spend it, or pay the financial penalty of not doing so that is the equivalent of the amount needed to reach the cap floor....and that amount is split up to all players iirc.

This is a fantastic trade for the Jets.

They get 2 picks in the top 13 now and some cash to use in FA next year.

One of the strengths in this draft is CB. They can easily get a good player for a cheaper price and younger talent.

If the Jets want Geno just ask for 9 and next year's #1.

It could just be a smokescreen, but

GM John Idzik has sent out word that he's interested in trading down to acquire extra draft picks, according to a league source. This strategy makes sense because some of the players they're targeting at No. 9 could be available a few spots lower -- or at least players of similar value. The problem will be finding a team willing to change places. What player would be worth trading up for? West Virginia QB Geno Smith could be a target for someone, but no team from No. 10 to No. 32 has a glaring need at quarterback.

If we could swing a trade with NY and get those two with the picks, I'd be happy.

Sign Albert long term and if he wants traded, use the pick on Ogletree....I think he will drop out of the first and with a run of qbs in the second round, he could drop to the Dolphins second rounder.

NY gets Geno
Miami gets Albert

Chiefs get Austin, Jones and Ogletree.

I would be done being salty about the Alex Smith trade.

The Jets aren't trading up for Geno. Their roster is a ****ing disaster and Rex Ryan is a dead man walking.

Also, his agent is god awful. 100 million extension and not a single dollar guaranteed.
