Yep they were ****ing idiots plain and simple. They stole the kids' student ID's which can be used basically as a debit card too if you choose to. They then went to vending machines and bought pretty much everything in the machines, so on top of the battery charges they got something like 40+ charges of identity theft on top of it too

place a lien on their property (if they even have any); notify the parents employer of their shitbag kid. Make is so the parents name pops up on any criminal background checks anyone runs.

if the family is receiving any sort of government assistance, cut that shit off now and forever.

I'm not convinced that making them more broke will solve anything, especially i they have other kids. Community service is the way to go, here. Put them to work on a neighborhood garden, or painting a wall or ladling soup to homeless people or something.
