what a cool thread.

Only problem is, there are so many genres to choose from, but i'd have to say:

The Beatles
Nirvana
Frank Zappa

...all because they SINGLEHANDEDLY started entire genres of rock...

I think that's what makes a band "great".

but number one escapes me... there's too many to be 3 dog night...

and number 3 is almost scary... i can't tell if that's elvis costello after cosmetic surgery or buddy holly on crack...

I've expressed my love for Elvis C. many times. I think he's one of the best songwriters ever, a great storyteller, and a wonderful singer.
