I've read that....along with most wrestling books even though most of them kinda suck.

And obviously I'm much more of a smark than a mark.

THIS IS FAKE!!!!!!!

You act like the world of wrestling is shrouded in mystery, which is true only if you're paying no attention to it whatsoever. Paying no attention to it whatsoever is not a problem in the least, unless you like to make completely inaccurate claims about it. Then you just end up looking like a clueless blowhard.

We know Angle's injuries are real, not only because reliable sources reported on them but because WWE (A) released him because they were afraid he would die in the ring if he kept going at the rate he was going, and (B) had no storyline reasons whatsoever to fake them. We know Triple H really did blow out his quad because (A) it's happened before, and (B) sidelining one of the three most over (that's "popular") guys on the roster for 8-10 months while he's helping move an incredible amount of merchandise, for no reason whatsoever, goes well beyond WWE's admittedly huge realm of stupidity.

John Cena's "ruptured spleen" is a work, and we know it's a work. We're not three years old.

Nobody thinks the finishes are anything but predetermined. Nobody thinks these guys really hate each other (well, some do, but that's another issue entirely). We know they're not REALLY beating each other to within an inch of their lives (that is not to say, however, that it's "fake" in the sense that some moves don't hurt and some people don't get seriously injured; to suggest otherwise is completely ignorant).

I watch wrestling because... it's fun. That's why I watched Cheap Seats or Mystery Science Theater 3000. Sure, I knew they weren't REALLY coming up with all of those jokes on the fly, but it was still hilarious. I know Kiefer Sutherland's not ACTUALLY Superman, just like I know John Cena is not actually some superhuman douchebag who thinks he's a marine. That doesn't make it any less enjoyable, because it's, get this, entertainment. Just because you might not understand why it's entertaining to see Randy and Jason riff on Superjocks/Superdogs or Jack Bauer save LA from a nuke doesn't mean the people who enjoy those forms of entertainment are drooling reeruns. The characters and stories in wrestling, when done well, can be very involving; and when done poorly, they can be equally entertaining in a "What the Christ?!" kind of way.

For ****'s sake, you like to watch grown men run around playing a game and pretending they actually care about how much it means to the fans. Who are you to talk?

You said work......75% of the board probably has no idea what the term work means to wrestling.

It's like this as was once said a long time ago. To those who believe no explantation is needed to those who don't no explanation is good enough

The bad perception wrestling gets is because of the fans. I took my girlfriend to a show once and it was nothing but fat, inbred, hick looking freaks - it was like a cross between the worst stereotype of wrestling fans and nascar fans that you can think of combined to the tenth power.

It totally made me realize why people make fun of wrestling, and why as a wrestling fan, I find myself hating most other wrestling fans - because more often than not, wrestling fans are all those dumb fat jackoffs who sit at home and bitch about "workrate" and all this other stupid shit. I mean just imagine a guy that looks like Patton Oswalt sitting at a computer screen writing a 1,000 word thesis on why Kurt Angle is overrated and some jap nobody's heard of has the best workrate in the world. It's quite pathetic when you think about it.

With that said, I love wrestling.

I agree with pretty much all of that.......I've been to a ton of shows and well that is mostly true. Although going to a football game isn't really any better.......there's just alot of people out there like that in general.

This is especially true of Chiefs games. I'd love to know how many more mullets per capita there are at a Chiefs game than at your average NFL stadium.

At this point, "mullet" seems to mean about as much as "emo."

Any one see the 'Taker v HBK final at the Royal Rumble last night?

When Undertaker won I was marking like a little bitch, like I was in 6th grade again.

I would like to see Taker get the strap one more time before he retires. (Which he should do. Retire, that is. Soon.) One thing I don't want to have happen is for Taker to put Batista over at Wrestlemania 23. I'm fine with his streak ending to put a young talent over, but Batista isn't deserving of that honor.

Now that's some interesting booking. I agree with you. There's no point of having the Undertaker end his WM streak to put over a guy like Batista who #1 is old, yet still green, #2 is a stiff, #3 needs roids to be imposing, and #4 shows no respect to the bid'ness.

Yup. There is no one in the WWE ready to make the jump to elite that's worth a damn, imo.

Maybe 'Taker comes over to Raw tonight and starts a story leading up to Taker/Cena at WM23?

But then Taker would job to Cena, and I would cry bitter tears.

Wrestling is about as entertaining as Jerry Springer, minus the crackwhores.
