This is me. We're not talking about a great QB either, like one we'd miss. QBs with Smith's skill set can be found for free or in the draft every year and give the same level of production. IMO, Dorsey and Reid know he's just a stop gap QB.

I think it's a blessing if we don't extend him. We've seen the best of him and he's not worth what he's rumored to be asking for. I didn't wanna extend him, period.

2 2cd round picks is a lot to pay for a QB that they knew was going to be nothing more than a stop gap.

I think they know now he's just a stop gap. Maybe I'm too picky but I wasn't impressed last year. Maybe I'm getting senile.

What you're not seeing is that we ARE ready to compete, ready to make a deep run.

The defensive talent looks better, take away one Lewis and add some depth... voila, a better defense.

Offense, Bowe and Charles are both now experts in this complicated scheme, as well as the role players, depth HAS been added to the offense, just maybe not where most of us wanted it... what did we have our first year under Reid? 8-9 pro bowlers, 2-3 all-pros?

Shiiit, we ARE ready for a deep run in the second year of this system... I honestly didnt like the way it was all handled but the truth is that they honestly did add a lot of depth this year. This team IS ready for a run and Smiff needs to lead the charge, that arrogant, ingrate mfer.

The only problem is even if we are ready to compete, there's this team with this HOF QB out west that has something to say about that. Until he retires we're not gonna be good enough to beat them with Alex Smith. I hope I'm wrong.

We aren't as far off as some of you think.

Especially if the team can get/stay healthy and we get some contributions from the new members of the team (and the medical red shirted draft class of 2013)

Not too many teams have the star power we do.

If the defense can get healthy and start to resemble the defense of the first half of last year while the offense continues to build on the second half of last year, this team can compete with any tream in the nfl.
