***Official 2014 Training Camp/Preseason Mega-thread***

Post all of the Training Camp/Pre-season updates, relevant tweets, and general thoughts in this mega-thread.

If something happens to be particularly newsworthy, feel free to start a thread and discuss it there. Don't be a dickbag and "Q" up their thread, unless some idiot posts something like 5 days late.

WHEN POSTING TWEETS - When posting Tweets, instead of just copying the text, you can actually embed the tweet by clicking "...More" (right next to the timestamp of the tweet)-> "Embed Tweet" -> Copy the embed code, then paste that into your CP post. It will make the thread look a lot cleaner and we won't have to keep clicking away from the website to see the content. Thanks in advance.

No, no they are not.

However, Pest is correct that they would have been better with Flowers as Gaines and even Parker are just big question marks at this point. On paper, the defensive backfield is a serious issue that is going to be severely tested this season. They'll get a baptism by fire right from the get go.

However, the one thing that will help them out is getting Berry out of the box and putting his athleticism back as the high/back safety and having anyone other than Lewis and Robinson back there in subpackages will be a tremendous boon to our cornerbacks. (Though I'm worried a bit about Berry's ability to effectively cover the pass. He hasn't been the best in that regard since entering the league and he's basically played linebacker for the Chiefs to this point in his career. Having him be our deep middle field defensive stopper is worrisome at this point.)

Kyle Love and Malcom Bronson.

Even though I don't see Andy keeping that many receivers, even with Thomas performing double-duty.

I just don't see Bronson as being a valuable part of this team. He didn't do anything last year, somehow was good enough in the staff's eyes to get practice squaded, and is now struggling to outplay McMillian and Sorensen.

Preseason games are going to be the deciding factor, yeah, but I just don't see it

Flowers was awful last year and keepin him and that salary would have been a terrible move.

No he's not.

I've seen most of his college games. I lived in Grand Forks at the time when he was playing football for the University of North Dakota.

He's not getting reps as a kick returner, and he's 29 years old. He has no value as a developmental guy to work in like Jenkins and Hemingway were last year for us.

He's going to get flushed back to Canada where he belongs. Maybe a WR-needy team like Cleveland will pick him up. But barring injury, he's not playing a single regular season down here.

He was nursing a knee injury for basically the entire year and wasn't as effective, but he was still better than anyone else on this roster.

I do agree with you that keeping him and that salary was detrimental to the overally makeup of the team in terms of getting others signed long term as he's been injury nag prone the past several seasons and that doesn't bode well for the future at that position.

At this point, the CB position is still in a state of flux. We really don't know anything about anyone other than Sean Smith and Cooper (and that's what we saw his rookie season). Everyone else is a big question mark. You hope that Cooper progresses from what he showed last season and hope that someone steps up, which, from this point, sounds like Parker, but having basically three guys at the position, two of which are still unknowns, is kinda scary.
