The MIA Heat Show Thread

LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

Lakers, detroit, spurs. Three great teams since lebron was a rookie.

To match the Jordan scenario (who is not the player I'd be looking to match, since I'd be looking at the likes of Magic, Bird and Russell, who all won in their first two years), James needs to win this year, so I'm not sure why you'd use this as an argument on your side of the discussion.

Third, Jordan didn't win until the better teams collapsed, which kept him from amassing more championships. Jordan never beat the Celtics or Lakers great teams, and he only beat the Pistons after they were finished (I'll leave the arguments about "why" to other threads/people). Where are those great teams stopping James?

None of those were great teams that blocked James.*

That was after Jabbar was gone. The great Celtics teams were gone after the Bird/McHale injuries. The great Lakers teams were gone after Jabbar left, although they had one more year with great win totals.

* I guess you could argue the 2006 Spurs. I wouldn't, for a couple of reasons, with Dallas having truly been that year's great team being one reason, but I could understand people arguing it having happened once.

You've got to be shitting me with this argument. Horry was playing with the best players in the league. He's a coattail player who makes the point.

2 wins with Hakeem, who was the man while Jordan was sucking in baseball's minor leagues, followed by wins with the Spurs and Lakers while those teams were going back and forth with the elite players of the time (Shaq/Kobe/Duncan).

Seems to me that Kobe's got that title right now.

Actually, I was saying the same thing then that I say now. Greatness is not about stats. It's about how you apply your talents to winning. To bring it into the football realm, it's why a guy like Marino's not looked at as a top 10 QB, for example.

It's just an example of how stupid comparing players based on how many championships they've won is. If we went by your ridiculous method of greatness, Horry>Malone.

As a Kobe fan, I wish that was the case. But it's not even close.

Well all of the teams that have won NBA championships were great, but the Lakers and Spurs have had incredible dynasties this decade with some of the best players in the game's history.

It's about dominance. And LeBron James is one of the most dominant players to ever play the game. Stats are an objective way of measuring that dominance.

Again, using your criteria, you would have been bashing Jordan 20 years ago because his team had never won in 7 years. It's simply insane.

Interesting column by Adrian Wojnarowski. Seems to think Wade and LeBron are growing apart.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...atissues030611

Quote:
“I’m used to coming down in the fourth, having the ball, making mistakes, getting a chance to make up for them, etc., “ Wade told reporters Sunday. “You try to do your best. That’s all you can do. That was one of the things we got to understand when we all decided to come together. That there were going to be sacrifices that have to be made. And you live with the consequences.”

Yes, you live with the consequences. Wade has started to say publicly what he’s been saying privately for a long time: Why don’t I get the ball when it matters? Miami’s no longer his town, and the Heat no longer his team. Didn’t you hear James? It isn’t our team. It isn’t D-Wade’s team.

So you allow stats to blind your reality.

Reality is that the team won 47 last year with Wade and Beasley. Reality is that with wade and Bosh and a few other talented peaces, they'd have won 50-60 this year. LeBron is nice, but there is really less than a 5 win difference with him on the team and without him. ..if that.

Because Wade was already there, and Bosh is just the third wheel.

LeBron is supposed to be the centepiece free agent acquisition that vaults the Heat to new heights.
