**Official MU Head Coach Search Thread**

Seems like this deserves its own thread. The news will start coming fast over the next week or two, IMO. Recruiting is a 365-day event and we can't afford to be rudderless for long.

My vote - Cuonzo Martin.

Discuss.

Why not take a crack at a coach who would have been a huge upgrade and was underpaid and disgruntled. Who here would have guessed (after the fact doesnt count) that Purdue was going to open up their pocket book like that?
Has nothing to do with painter. I gave him credit for trying there.

Should have happened prior to that.

Swinging for the fences isn't the problem. Going after Painter is the right play.

The problem is exactly what your Tribune article says - he's terrible at managing information. And typically, he comes off looking like a rube because of it.

And if the info was coming from Purdue's side?

You guys are mad at Alden because in this day of information he can't go out in get a coach in some vacuum that does not exist. Not to mention getting worked up over stuff that can;t even begin to be backed up.

These whole fantasy worlds and narratives are being created and people are expected to be taking the fall for them.

Dude, this goes way beyond the Painter situation.

Hell, the Board Of Curators called an emergency meeting back in 2006 to fire his ass.

Like Deez said, it'll be a miracle if he manages not to embarrass the university once again before this is all settled.

I'm not mad at all but come on... Was Alden the one who hired Snyder over Self? Then you have the whole Orange Bowl thing, The Big 10 mess, and this. It's certainly fair for an outsider to think Alden is a moron. I don't care how bad Mizzou has been in the past a school with it's resources can do better than average.

Perhaps, but it's just such a big win because of the national exposure and the amount of money that the football program has generated.

It might be an "only," but it's one hell of an "only."

I think it is really easy to be an AD after the fact. I will concede that.

I know KU fans don't care about Olympic sports(except basketball) but MU has several sports in the Top 25 with coaches that Alden has hired. I believe the only "mistake" he made was picking Quin Snyder over Bill Self.

So now Anderson wasn't a good hire.

No one cares about any of the periphery sports.

You need to be a top football or basketball program.

Everything else is irrelevant

Don't forget the Board Of Curators calling for more oversight into athletics because they had a renegade basketball program on their hands, the way the Snyder firing supposedly took place - hi there, Gary Link - the Floyd/Clemons debacle, etc.

Dude's been nothing but a trainwreck.

Exactly, football and basketball help fund the periphery sports I would guess.
