Thanks for that. They seem to have some pretty usable forums there. I will have to follow them tomorrow night to see how it goes. I will of course stay up with this one too. I still think this is the best BB out there. BIAS

When last season ended, Jack had staged his own death to resolve conflict with the Chinese over an international incident that accidentally resulted from his operation last season at the Chinese embassy. Only four people knew he was still alive - (former) President Palmer, Tony, Michelle, and Chloe.

Jack assumed a new identity and was living somewhere not far from LA. He apparently has a new love interest there, a single mother with a teenage son, who only knew him by his assumed name.

In the opening minutes of tonight's episode former Presdient Palmer is assassinated. Almost simultaneously, Michelle is killed by a car bomb that leaves Tony in critical condition. Chloe is chased outside her apartment by some unnamed badguys, and after she gives them the slip Chloe calls Jack from a pay phone and explains the situation to him - that attempts had been made on the life of everyone who knew Jack was still alive.

Meanwhile, President Logan is preparing for today's summit with the Russians which is a delicate situation but could result in the signing of an arms agreement. Despite accumulating evidince that the summit may be a target of a terrorist attack, Logan refuses to let anything interfere due to being politically pot-committed. Logan's mentally unbalance wife got a telephone call from Palmer the night before his death in which Palmer said he needed to pass on information that was a matter of national security.

Jack and Chloe meet up and the assailants follow. Jack discovers that his love interest's son has followed him to the rendevous with Chloe, suspecting that there was more to Jack than meets the eye. Jack makes him stay to keep him from going to the police and disclosing his loction. Jack is able to kill the assailants. He promises the last of them, Palmer's shooter who has a gunshot wound to the abdomen, that he'll take the wounded man to a hospital for treatment if he tells Jack what is going on. The man says that the objective was to kill Palmer and frame Jack for the crime, and that the attacks on others were a diversion. The man confesses to Jack that he is Palmer's murdurer. Apparently dry of information, Palmer's shooter asks to be taken to the hospital as agreed, but Jack kills him anyway.

Around this time CTU picks up on a doctored security video that places Jack at the scene of Palmer's assassination, and he becomes their prime suspect in the former President's murder.

Jack, seeking to exonerate himself in Palmer's murder, goes with Chloe and love interest's son to Palmer's apartment to see what he can learn about the murder. While Chloe and love interest's son wait in a van in the basement parking garage, Jack disguises as an FBI agent and goes up to the apartment where he begins looking through Palmer's computer, but is discovered by Palmer's brother who believes him to be the killer. Jack convinces him of his innocence and to let him try to find the real killers. On Palmer's computer Jack finds an address that leads to a terminal at the airport and the name of Russian baggage claim supervisor.

CTU discovers that Chloe is helping jack from the van in the parking garage, by monitoring the location of agents in the building, and converges on them. The three are discovered just as they are about to leave the apartment building, and though they try to escape, Chloe is captured. Jack and love interest's son escape. Bill Buchanan asks to speak to Chloe who refuses to tell him where Jack is. Chloe is being taken to CTU for interrogation, while Jack continued to the airport. He reunites love interest and her son and then goes into the airport to investigate the baggage claim supervisor lead.

The Russian president arrives for the summit and is greeted by President Logan without incident, contrary to CTU's intelligence that the summit was very likely a target. Logan has learned of the telephone call his wife received from Palmer, but by the time audio of the call can be retrieved, it has apparently been doctored to sound like Palmer had called regarding a charity event and not a matter of national security. Logan's wife says the tape is doctored, but due to her mental state no one seems to believe her.

Jack goes to the baggage claim office at the airport and finds the man he's looking for, who refuses to talk. At the same time, a vanload of terrorists storms the airport terminal and initiates a hostage situation, apparently this was the attack that was planned rather than a direct attack on the summit. Love interest's son sees the terrorists going into the airport and runs inside to warn Jack, but doesn't find him before the terminal is taken over and he becomes one of the hostages.

Jack is momentarily distracted by the events in the terminal and the baggage claim supervisor commits suicide with a cyanide capsule.

The terrorists in the terminal say that the hostages will not be harmed if the President meets their demands. Jack, having not gained anything useful from the bag claim supervisor, prepares to do something about the terrorists, who have the misfortune of not knowing the biggest asskicker in the universe is in the building.

As the episode is ending, it is revealed that one of President Logan's assistants orchestrated the altering of the audio from his wife's telephone call, and is thus in on whatever plot the terrorists are planning.

That's pretty much where the episode ended... If anyone thinks of anything I left out, let me know.

The usual enduring plot points remain:
-Audrey needs to be killed off
-Edgar is a bumbling, donut snarfing doofus
-President Logan is an incompetent buffoon
-Mike Novak kicks ass.

OK, one question.... Why did the baggage claim sup commit suicide? I found that slightly odd. Unless he just planned that for himself if terrorists ever invaded his workplace.

He was in on the terroist plot somehow, and had the cyanide on him just in case something went wrong.

Unknown still at this point is how the information about him got onto Palmer's computer or what exactly he knew.

I thought that was kind of strange - you'd think that Jack would have wanted CVU to get ahold of him and put the screws on, to see if they could get any more information. The assassin said he didn't know anything else, but of course he could have been lying. I took it as Jack wanting to personally finish him off due to his friendship with Palmer.

They also went to the trouble of showing us his name, twice - on the computer and on the office door - and since the name was of some Russian persuasion we're supposed to make the connection I guess that he was in on it.

I taped it too. I plan to go back and watch them tomorrow morning to see things I overlooked since I could not give it my full attention tonight.
